BANK Band 5 Registered Nurse
Application deadline: Monday 16th February 2026

The post holder will deliver high-quality, compassionate palliative and end-of-life nursing care to patients admitted to the hospice inpatient unit. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the Band 5 Registered Nurse (RN) will provide holistic care that meets patients’ physical, emotional, psychological, social and spiritual needs, while supporting families and those important to the patient.

BANK Healthcare Assistant

The Healthcare Assistant (Band 3) will work as part of the multidisciplinary team to provide compassionate, person-centred care to patients with life-limiting illness in the hospice in-patient unit. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the post holder will support patients with their personal care, comfort and wellbeing, while maintaining dignity, respect and privacy at all times.

Today is International Puzzle Day! 🧩 Have you visited our unique Jigsaw Library?

The Stourbridge Jigsaw Library, located on the grounds of the hospice, is the only one of its kind in the Black Country, and it caters to all your puzzling needs! Our extensive collection of over 1,000 jigsaws includes everything from Gibsons to Wasgijs. We also offer a safe and warm space for community puzzling, a chat and a cuppa.

Plus, every jigsaw that you borrow for just £2 per puzzle helps to fund patient care here at the hospice.

Pop in and have a browse! Opening times are:
Monday-Thursday: 10am-3pm
Friday: 10am-4:30pm
Saturday: 10am-2pm
Sunday: CLOSED

You can find us on the grounds of The Mary Stevens Hospice at: 221 Hagley Road, Oldswinford, DY8 2JR. The entrance is behind the first building on the left as you come through the gates.

We'd like to give a massive THANK YOU THURSDAY to everyone involved in the Alec Orange Memorial Tournament that took place last year.

The event in September, which raised funds for The Mary Stevens Hospice, included a six-a-side football tournament and family fun day, and was held at Kewford Eagles Football Club, who kindly provided their facilities at no cost. In the run-up to the tournament, Alec's nephew, Nohl, also shaved off his lovely head of hair to raise extra funds; what a champ!

A fantastic collective effort and a lovely tribute that in total raised over £4,500: an incredible total that we are very grateful to receive here at the hospice. Thank you so much to everyone who organised the event, took part and got involved 💙

THANK YOU to everyone who has donated to our January Amnesty 💙 we appreciate that this time of year can be difficult financially, and we're very grateful for every donation.

If you have unused gifts sitting at the back of the cupboard, including bottles and gift sets, there's still time to donate them to us for use at a variety of fundraising events that we hold throughout the year.

Last week, we held our annual Wassail, bringing staff and volunteers together at the start of the year.

Led by our Spiritual Care Lead, Ruth, alongside Spiritual Care Lead Volunteer Sam, and Awen Clement, one of our spiritual care advisors. The evening offered a moment to pause and share hopes, thoughts, prayers and blessings for the hospice and the year ahead. As part of this tradition, people present were invited to tie pieces of toast around the tree, symbolising their own care and goodwdill for the hospice in the year to come.

It was a relaxed and welcoming evening, with time to talk, reflect and enjoy refreshments together. We’re grateful to everyone who took part and helped mark the beginning of the year. 🌳

We’re back with our second creative workshop... and this one’s centred on creating a handmade piece that brings a little character to your kitchen!

Hand-Stamped Tea Towels takes place on 9th February, and it’s your chance to design your own wooden block stamps and use them to create a one-of-a-kind tea towel. The kind you’ll probably hang up and admire rather than wipe the worktops with.

You don’t need any experience, we’ll guide you through the whole process, with all materials and tools provided. You’ll head home with a finished piece that works beautifully as a gift, or as a small everyday reminder that you made something by hand.

💷 Price includes all materials and equipment

We also offer bespoke gift vouchers, perfect if you’re stuck for a birthday present or fancy giving the gift of a little creative time. Vouchers can be used on any workshop running from January–December 2026.

Our Bereavement Hubs are here to provide a space to share feelings around grief and to speak to others in a supportive environment. These sessions are free to attend and open to anyone throughout the Dudley borough, regardless of whether you have received support from the hospice or not.
