👁️🌍 Today is World Strabismus Day — raising awareness of a condition that affects both children and adults across the globe.
Strabismus, sometimes called “a squint” or “turned eye,” occurs when the eyes do not align properly. It can affect depth perception, lead to eye strain, and if left untreated in children, may result in amblyopia (lazy eye).
👦👧 Early detection is key!
Strabismus is often spotted in childhood — but it can develop at any age. The good news? With early diagnosis, it can often be managed or corrected.
At Special Looks Opticians, we offer:
✅ Free NHS eye tests for children
✅ Visual development and binocular vision checks
✅ Referral support for specialist care if needed
✅ Patient, gentle exams in a child-friendly space
👁️ Remember — even if your child’s eyes look “fine,” regular eye tests are important to pick up issues that aren’t always visible.
