Having knitted a lot for my hubby and I’s three children as babies, I took a break from knitting as they grew older.
I picked up the pins again a few years ago, when my siblings had their own children, followed closely by the birth of our first grandchild.
Now the proud grandparents of two grandsons and one granddaughter, the knitting needles are always clicking away, in between full-time work, in the car, in front of the tv, and up mountains (that is another story!).
Having accumulated a (extremely!) large quantity of yarn, and following a loss, I started to knit blankets for charity, for the premature babies at Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Women’s Hospital. Further research has shown the need for knitted items, not just blankets, but hats and jackets for these little miracles, together with outfits for the angels born sleeping, so that they may be given the dignity and love they deserve at such a sad time.
