Happy International Women’s Day 🎉🥳🎊

‘We can all give our support to gain advancement for women and girls.

As individuals, giving support means calling out stereotypes, challenging discrimination, questioning bias, celebrating women’s success, and more.

Sharing our knowledge and encouragement with others is also key.’

I’m an avid fan of journalling but lately I’ve been feeling very ‘in my head’ so have begun to experiment with different ways of managing life’s tribulations.

When I’ve felt jangled I’ve spent a bit of time colouring. Perfection - not needed. Particular colours - not required. Good enough - ideal 🌟.

Instead what it does is take me from my head into my body and my focus becomes anchored in the present moment and I begin to r-e-l-a-x.

How about you - do you find colouring relaxing?

Happy . I've been drawn to biographies/memoirs recently. As a counsellor, I love listening to people's experiences and the books below have really caught me for different reasons.

Anita Moorjani's Dying To Be Me - a captivating exploration of her aka crikey on a bikey, how cool to come back with so much wisdom.
Elizabeth Gilbert's All The Way To The River - an unflinching account of accompanying a loved one to their death aka You Nearly Did What.....?

And currently, Penelope Lively's Ammonites and Leaping Fish: A Life in Time - how she experiences old age.

All very powerful in their own ways.

Women's voices are definitely my current vibe.

What's drawing you in at the moment?

An offering from my sister practice The Grief Counsellor.

I wrote this letter for anyone wondering if they’re grieving 'the right way.' There’s no rulebook. But there is love, presence and gentleness. I hope this meets you where you are 💚.

🍂I’m not seeing new clients at the moment because I’m tending to my own transitions and slowly shaping how I want my work to meet others.

I’m writing from the in-between - the tender space after loss and will be welcoming new clients again from October🍂.

Is there a right way to grieve? Letters from the After by Donna Gibson. Grief letters honouring the messy, tender, unpolished journey of loss.

If you've been thinking about bereavement counselling for a while, feel free to get in touch and either book a session or have a chat to see if bereavement counselling feels right for you.

Sessions available in person in Stowmarket or online from the comfort of your own home.

My new blog post The Unspoken Grief of Counsellors: When a Client Dies is out now.

In it I talk about my experience of processing the death of one of my clients, the concept of disenfranchised grief and ways counsellors can honour their clients while caring for themselves.
