🌍 Culture Café Success! ☕✨

On Thursday 20th November, we hosted our very first Culture Café event! The cold weather may have kept numbers down, but it definitely didn’t cool the energy or enthusiasm of the 20 amazing participants who joined us.

It was an afternoon filled with acceptance, reflection, shared stories and learning. A huge thank you to our incredible speakers for opening up about their experiences—everyone took something meaningful away.

Special thanks to Kamini from SECA for her fantastic work and partnership in delivering the project.

This is only the beginning… keep an eye out for our next Culture Café—you won’t be disappointed! 🌟

We’re looking for a Support Worker to join Strabane & District Caring Services — helping people live with dignity, independence, and a friendly face they can trust.

🌟 Position: Support Worker (Part-Time, 10 Hours)
📍 Location: Strabane & District Caring Services
💷 Pay: £12.30 per hour
🕓 Hours: Monday–Friday, between 9am and 6pm
📅 Deadline: 12pm, Tuesday 25th November 2025

🤝 What You’ll Do:

Provide companionship and befriending services

Assist with shopping, chaperoning, and small household tasks

Offer personal and low-level care based on individual needs

Work collaboratively as part of a caring, supportive team

✅ Essential Criteria:
Full driving licence & access to a car for work

Applicants must complete an Access NI check and register with the Northern Ireland Social Care Council.

Part of our EMPOWERED COMMUNITIES STRABANE PROJECT in conjunction with Strabane Ethnic Community Association come along and enjoy an afternoon of connection and conversation. Expect friendly chats , light refreshments and a chance to celebrate the rich diversity of our Community.

This initiative is timed to coincide with WORLD CHILDRENS DAY on the 20th of November , UNICEFs global day for action for Children and to mark the councils status as a UNICEF Child Friendly City and Community.

Our STAY YOUNG ladies group were at The Painted Pig again today enjoying the health and Wellbeing through Art project.

A great time was had as always, I’m sure you can tell from the pictures. Thanks as always to Sharon for her warm hospitality and kindness. See you again next week !

Thanks to Eilish from the WHSCT who visited our centre this morning for the FALLS PREVENTION EVENT. Thanks also to those who came along and took part in a very informative and worthwhile session.
These events are an opportunity for learning , networking and positive community engagement. It’s great to see local people getting involved and taking advantage of this free support delivered right on our doorstep.

Keep an eye out for our next event , come along and get involved. You won’t regret it !
