☯️SHIATSU AND DOGS🐕
Dogs benefit greatly from shiatsu. Whether they are working, doing agility or are a family pet. Older dogs or young!
Based on the principles of Oriental medicine, it is a therapy that originates in Japan. The use of pressure points, massage techniques and stretches help reduce bodily tensions. But the effect of Shiatsu is more, supporting and having a positive relationship with the body's systems such as nervous, respiratory, fascia, lymphatic and digestive systems.
Using touch with palms, fingers and thumbs, and importantly being able to feel the subtle changes as these are applied and make changes in the pressure, Shiatsu supports the body and mind, promoting relaxation, well being and healing.
Shiatsu looks at the cause of dysfunction, not just the symptom, and seeks to support change that will have a long lasting benefit.
Incorporating Reiki into practice supports relaxation and targeting energy to aid healing, both for humans and animals!

☯️ OUT AND ABOUT! ☯️
Five beautiful horses seen today. Each with people who recognise the importance of supporting their well-being and keeping them in the best condition.
🐕 Then got to see some dog agility at a KC competition being held at the yard! Chatting to trainers and learning about the range of skills used to achieve the results I saw. Amazing!
🐎When we think of massage therapies we often see it as a 'treat'. But having regular sessions supports your horses (dogs and your!) systems, including circulatory, lymphatic, digestive and fascia. In winter, horses may become stiffer and less supple. They hold themselves against the cold, often move less, and may have less turnout and exercise. Shiatsu is a great way to counter this using gentle massage techniques, stretches, fascial release and acupressure. I always leave a bit of homework to do between sessions!
Now is the time to book that session (and 'treat' yourself too!)☯️

🐎FARRIERS/TRIMMERS 🐎
Today I wanted to pay tribute to our farriers and trimmers. Having a barefoot herd I have had both amazing farriers and trimmers.
There seems to be a lot of farrier bashing on social media and a huge blame culture. Cost is often mentioned negatively. But what cost to the foundation on which your horse stands? Farriers have at least 4 years training, continued professional development and professional standards to meet. The trimmers I have had have a recognised qualification and undertake CPD. So where's has the trend towards being unkind come from?
Travelling around the country in all weathers, dealing with unpredictability, and managing a.business.can take its.toll. You never know what someone else is dealing with. So let's shout out for our farriers and trimmers and be kind.
From me, here is to Deepghyll Forge: Farriery and Barefoot Trimming (and thanks to Murray Crawford who helps out when needed). You are appreciated and have my thanks for your patience ,skill, knowledge and professionalism 😊
Shout out your people!

☯️ What a day to go out! Travelled down through wind, sleet and snow❄️! Better on the way back....just wind 🌬! But worth the effort to see these guys (though 🥶). Galaxy and Henry having their regular maintenance and then a first visit to the gorgeous (and huge at 18hh!) Echo. What a lovely character he has!
Back home to do my own herd, and then finishing up CPD!!! Another busy but satisfying day 😊☯️

☯️ Yesterday I attended a webinar at Centaur Biomechanics looking at how horse and rider are connected by fascia. A fascinating lecture presented by Mary Wanless and Tom Myers.
Then today out working with the lovely Asia and leaving some homework to do with her, and her pal, Summer before their next session. I like to leave some things for the owner to do between sessions so we can keep moving forward with our work. Always working in partnership 😊☯️

☯️ Playing CPD catch up! Another couple to focus on tonight, and tomorrow, a webinar with Centaur Biomechanics (excited for that!). It is hugely important to keep up with professional development, not only to ensure that I am able to give the best service with up to date knowledge, but it is also a requirement for professional insurance and professional society membership. This gives you peace of mind that standards are being kept 😊☯️

A few horses seen this week. Travel atound Ayr, Beith and Kirkoswald.
Seeing the water meridians in our work just now. Water is the winter element, the time for slowing down, for finding the easiest path. Water is also associated with motivation and willpower. So a balance of rest and what we have to do. Horses are affected greatly by the seasons and change. Shiatsu supports those times and helps to keep the physical body, as well as the emotional, in good shape. ☯️💜. Now is the time to book a session and make sure you and your partner are ready to move forward!

😊💜 I had this message sent from Piper's person. I was grateful for the feedback and to hear that Piper's sessions have had benefit to her. She has so far had 3 sessions and we are seeing longer lasting outcomes from these.
☯️ Shiatsu (and Reiki!) are a valuable part of supporting your horses body through work with muscle, fascia, acupoints and meridians. Toning and dispersing energy, and supporting crucial systems. Understanding and working with the natural seasons (remember 'new year' resolutions are for when life comes back....spring!)
Thank you Claire for sharing 🙏
