You lose many other important minerals such as Potassium, Magnesium, Boron etc before you become deficient in Vitamin D.

So supplementing just with vitamin D won't help much for your entire well-being.

And blind supplementation has its risks that will outweigh the benefits.

As always, test and don't guess!

Test, Don't guess! This is what I have been taught.

Your nutrition directly determines how well you age.

During pregnancy, doctors put us on folic acid, zinc and iron supplements to avoid birth defects in the newborn. This shows how impactful mineral deficiencies can be.

Thus getting appropriate amounts of micronutrients like minerals can avoid the decline in health overall.

And when we talk about nutrition, the first thing that comes to our head is macronutrients- All carbohydrates, Protein and Fats.

But what essentially gets ignored is the micronutrients only because they are needed by the body at micro levels, but micronutrients have a macro impact on your health right from regulating your heartbeat, your metabolism, your thyroid, and your weight, to synthesising ATP, protein and your DNA even.

In my practice as a fatloss coach, I have not met a single woman who is deficient in Macronutrients, but we are all deficient in micronutrients particularly essential minerals.

Minerals in balance can work wonders but the same minerals when they are out of balance due to wrong supplementation can throw us off the health, like for an example people eating too much seafood or dental fillings can have high Mercury levels and without knowing if you are taking a supplement that contains hidden Mercury, then you are mega dosing yourself with heavy metal toxicity.

Similarly, people taking high doses of vitamin D3 can elevate Calcium levels in the body, which can further elevate Magnesium levels( see the image attached)

High levels of Uranium (see the image attached) coming from the water can cause high inflammation in your body providing a thriving environment for disease.

So folks, don't guess, get your minerals checked before buying that next supplement.

Iftaar Meal optimised for fatloss

One generous bowl of Quinoa Aash- makes 4 servings

Ingredients

To make this, I have used coarsely blended or blitzed 100 gm barley and 150 gm red quinoa together into a grainy mixture.

400 gms minced meat
1 small potato
8-10 French beans
Onion, 1
Spring onions
Green chilli
Garbanzo beans, 1 can/tin
Tomatoes, 1 vine one
Lemon juice
Spices of your choice
Herbs of your choice
1 Tbsp of cooking oil
Ginger garlic paste
Coriander stems for garnishing
Water to suit the soupy consistency

Directions- You have the ingredients, feel free to make them in your style.

Serving Suggestions- Divide the soup into 4 equal parts and one portion here makes one serving.

Plate this with steamed broccoli, cherry tomatoes, grated carrot, a few celery sticks and 2 small pieces of feta or any kind of block cheese or paneer cubes.

If you don't have cheese, you can serve this with 2 boiled eggs or drop a big dollop of yoghurt into the Aash or you can add 1 Tbsp of hummus along.

Lots of options to swap.

Remember, the key here is to eat fibre first, and then eat the Aash slowly and mindfully so you feel satisfied, not full.

And if you are still hungry, you can finish this meal with a small portion of mixed fruit salad or Berry salad.

(Dessert Recipes to follow in week 3 in my private group.)

It is advisable to eat this way so you continue to nourish your body while still fetching fatloss results.

Minerals are our body's spark plugs!

Without re-igniting them through balance and targeted one can't just fill the nutritional gaps through blind supplementation.

Mineral health is foundational for hormonal health and supporting our minerals is the key to balancing our hormones.

When we are stressed, our body depletes certain as a coping mechanism leaving us in a constant state of and energy loss.

They support our function and impact our metabolism.

The slower the thyroid, the slower the energy production and this explains the why behind thyroid fatigue though your blood reports read normal.

I have integrated into my practice and I see this to be a game-changer for my clients.

If you are interested in knowing your - let's chat in the DM for further details.

Why I don't recommend supplements without testing?

Agreed we live on an earth that is nutritionally deficient as the soil is ripped off the essential minerals due to excessive farming.

Taking supplements to address the known deficiencies and mineral imbalances has its benefits but taking them just because your friend has a success or the labels on the bottles in a health store speak to you of their benefits matching your symptoms can do more damage than help.

In my practice as a fat loss practitioner I just don't study the symptoms, but I get to the root cause and where the doctors have done their part in assessing through blood tests, I go by the blood tests and the diagnosis and then I recommend the supplements to work in collaboration with the medical advice.

And where the doctors have done their job and still the client feels something is off the charts as their blood reports have come back saying normal, that's where I do the mineral testing to get to the root cause and not just fix the symptom.

Depending on this root cause, I suggest a supplement that matches the root cause and not the symptom.

For instance- if your GP has put you on iron supplements because you are low in iron and anaemic without knowing the root cause, then she is treating your symptoms and not your root cause.

My approach would be why are you suddenly iron deficient in the first place?

If this is the approach you want someone to help you with, then my DM is open for a chat to see if we are medically a good fit to work together.

Remember, excess weight by itself is not a problem. Often it can be a symptom of underlying health which can range from blood sugar dysfunction, metabolic syndrome, hormonal disorders, mineral imbalances etc.

Anybody can give you a meal plan that is calorie-restricted and makes you lose a few pounds a month, but unless the root cause is not addressed, your weight will pile back.

So always work with a practitioner who goes beyond weight loss.

You don't need more info, You just need the right approach to target the cause.
