Small Steps & Consistency Over Willpower + Non-Negotiable Time for You
It’s 31st January—the first month of the year is wrapping up. If your resolutions didn’t go quite to plan, that’s okay!
Change isn’t about willpower; it’s about small, consistent steps that, over time, become second nature.
The secret? Making time for yourself non-negotiable. Just like an important appointment, schedule time for your well-being—whether it’s five minutes of mindful journalling, a short walk, or swapping milk chocolate for dark. It’s consistency, not intensity, that creates lasting change.
On 6th January 2025, I joined a 21-day yoga challenge with over 300,000 others worldwide, six 45 minute sessions daily to choose from, streamed live from India. There were only three session options to suit my UK time. I completed 18 out of 21 days and have now subscribed (at a very low cost) for a year.
I missed yesterday for a workshop and will miss tomorrow due to an opera, and guess what? I still feel good about myself. No guilt, no shame—just the knowledge that I’m consistent when I can be, and that’s what matters.
