Patients often ask us what the difference between an Orthodontist and a Dentist is.

Orthodontists are dental specialists. They have completed an additional 3-6 years of additional training to become a specialist in the field. Orthodontists specialise in the diagnosis and treatment of dental and facial irregularities, correcting your bite and the alignment of your teeth.

General dentists are skilled general practitioners who can diagnose and treat problems and common diseases that affect your teeth, mouth and gums.

Orthodontists and Dentists both work to improve patients oral health.

If you specifically want to discuss issues with your bite and tooth alignment it is best to visit an Orthodontist. You don’t have to wait for a referral, you can book an appointment for a consultation yourself.

During your first appointment with us it will involve a little photo shoot 📸 we take photos of your face and teeth to provide a baseline reference for a patient’s mouth and teeth at the beginning of treatment. These initial photos can then be referred to when monitoring progress during treatments such as orthodontics, aesthetic procedures, and restorative work.
