✨ Now is the time to recognise that inclusion isn’t just about words — it’s about action.

🧩 Around 15–20% of people in the UK are neurodivergent. Yet research shows 65% worry about discrimination at work and 55% fear how colleagues will react. Too often, people don’t feel able to be open about their needs.

As a care provider, we have a responsibility to change that. At Unique Senior Care, we support our neurodivergent Caregivers by making thoughtful adjustments that help people feel comfortable, confident, and able to give their best. This can include:

✅ Flexible training formats — written guides, videos, and hands-on practice.
✅ Extra breaks — time to pause and reset when concentration takes more energy.
✅ Clear structure — step-by-step learning, no jargon, plans shared in advance.
✅ Quiet spaces — calm areas to step away if things feel overwhelming.
✅ Mentoring and shadowing — learning gradually with reassurance.
✅ Choice in communication — sharing questions or feedback in the way that works best.
✅ Sensory awareness — being mindful of noise, light, and distractions.

Inclusion is about recognising that every Caregiver has strengths to bring, and making small changes so those strengths can shine 🌟

This lovely couple are new to our care, and not long ago they’d been feeling a little low - stuck indoors more than they’d have liked, and missing the chance to get out together 🧡

But with a bit of support from our wonderful Caregiver, Sue, that soon changed. A gentle walk around Stoneleigh Park and a tasty lunch was just the lift they needed 🧑‍🤝‍🧑

Simple moments like these can have such a big impact on wellbeing 🥹❤️

This week is National Inclusion Week. It's a chance to celebrate the many different routes people take into care 🌍💜

Valerie is a great example. She spent over 30 years in an office before deciding she wanted a change. At 60, she joined Unique Senior Care. Now in her 70s, she’s still caring, still full of energy, and still making people smile every day 🌸😊

“I wear colourful tops because the clients love them. Sometimes I might be the only person they see that day – so I make sure it’s a good one.” 💬

For Valerie, and many of our Caregivers, age isn’t a barrier – it’s a strength. Clients often feel comfort in the life experience and understanding that comes with a more mature carer
