I am so sorry that it has been so long since we’ve seen each other and I do hope that you have managed to settle into a comfortable state in these discomforting times.
I have held off contacting you all before, pending any information with regards to our ability to get back to treatments. We heard on Thursday that a number of ‘close-contact’ occupations are now able to got back to work, however, with further restrictions. I also still await any confirmation from my regulatory bodies and insurers.
Having now read through the guidelines from the Government they suggest that Complementary Practitioners can go back to work, but there are key areas of their guidelines which give me cause for concern:
1. Working from the clinic spaces that I do, with, in one case, working there with other therapists, and the other, with separate offices, the properties don’t easily allow me to ensure full compliance with the guidelines, but we can work at procedures for that, however ….
2. The guidelines further state:
a. Avoid skin to skin contact (gloves to be worn if touch is necessary)
b. ensure that spaces are fully ventilated (ideally with doors and windows open)
c. Minimise the time spent on treatments
d. No face treatments or close to face working
So, that leaves us with a 5 minute back massage, in a cool room, in rubber gloves! Joking apart, this is not conducive to a relaxing, helpful treatment.
So following on from that, I am not prepared at this point to put either my clients or myself at any unnecessary risk and propose to see how things settle down in the community with these current changes to the lockdown rules during this month. I will review again at the end of July.
All outstanding Salus vouchers will be honoured so please don’t worry about the dates.
