Grief - In All Its Stages

My mother died 2 weeks ago from Dementia. But when it comes, even though expected, it hurts you deep!

Why did it happen this way? Why her and in that fashion, left alone in a hospital bed in her last moments! Passing away just 20 minutes before I got there!

I feel that I am, in this moment, in the Anger stage of grief.

So what is Grief?

The Five Stages Of Grief

According to some there are five stages of Grief – those being - Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression and Acceptance.

They are often talked about as if they happen in order, moving from one stage to the other. But this isn’t always the case.

What defines each stage of grief?

Denial

Feeling numb is common in the early days after a bereavement. Some people at first carry on as if nothing has happened. Even if we know with our heads that someone has died it can be hard to believe that someone important is not coming back.

Anger

Anger is a completely natural emotion, and very natural after someone dies. Death can seem cruel and unfair, especially when you feel someone has died before their time or you had plans for the future together. It’s also common to feel angry at ourselves for things we did or didn’t do before their death.

Bargaining

When we are in pain, it’s sometimes hard to accept that there’s nothing we can do to change things. Bargaining is when we start to make deals with ourselves, or perhaps with God if we’re religious.

Depression

Sadness and longing are what we think of most often when we think about grief. This pain can be very intense and come in waves over many months or years. Life can feel like it no longer holds any meaning which can be very scary.

Acceptance

Grief comes in waves and it can feel like nothing will ever be right again. But gradually most people find that the pain eases, and it is possible to accept what has happened.

We may never ‘get over’ the death of someone precious, but we can learn to live again, while keeping the memories of those we have lost close to us.

That is my journey now to remember my mother, how she was before dementia, and all the memories I have had throughout my life being her son!

8 Growth Mindset Shifts That Work

What does a growth mindset look like in real-world situations?

Here are some positive growth mindset examples:

1. Embrace Any Challenges

If you have a growth mindset, instead of feeling overwhelmed, you approach the challenging tasks as an opportunity to learn something new.

2. Learn From Any Feedback – Good Or Bad

Feedback can be seen as a form of criticism that points out failures. But not for those with growth mindsets.

3. Seeing Effort As A Way To Be Successful

Growth-minded professionals understand that effort is essential for improvement. Whether it’s mastering a new software tool , or a new activity, or engaging in upskilling and reskilling opportunities.

4. Persevering In The Face Of Setbacks

In every career, there are setbacks.
Projects don’t go as planned. Deals fall through. Goals aren’t met. Someone with a growth mindset sees these “setbacks” as opportunities to learn and grow.

5. Actively Seeking Out Learning Opportunities

A key characteristic of people with a growth mindset is their hunger for knowledge. They’re always looking for ways to expand their skills and expertise. Even in areas outside their role.

6. Viewing Competition As Motivation

Work environments can be rather competitive at times. It’s easy for individuals with a fixed mindset to see others’ successes as a threat. But someone with a growth mindset flips this script.

7. Pushing Beyond Job Descriptions

A growth mindset means that people don’t limit themselves to the skill set of their job descriptions, as opposed to individuals with fixed mindsets. They look for ways to contribute beyond their role, developing new skills in the process.

8. Adapting To Change

As the famous Heraclitus said, “The only constant in life is change.”
Embracing change is at the heart of a growth mindset, as it fuels the drive to learn, adapt, and evolve.

By welcoming new challenges and opportunities, we open ourselves to continuous growth and lifelong learning—both of which are essential for personal and professional success.

FEAR OF SUCCESS! IS THAT REALLY A THING?

So, what exactly are you worried about?

Fear Number 1: I AM AFRAID OF BECOMING TOO SUCCESSFUL
Is it - Too much fame or attention?

Well, you don’t have to scream it out of the window that you achieved something if you don’t want attention.

Is it - Having too much money?

Is this really what you’re worried about? I think it’s a nice problem to have.

Fear Number 2: I WILL BECOME SUCCESSFUL TOO QUICKLY

Becoming too successful too quickly is probably not even a real thing.

Still, when your success starts rising (slowly) you will have plenty of time to adapt to it!

Just get started (and keep going for months or years) and you’ll understand.

Fear Number 3: I AM AFRAID MY LIFE WILL CHANGE

Yes, it probably will. Isn’t that the whole point?

Is your life so great right now that you would not trade it for your version of success? Change is the mechanism for a new fulfilling life.

Fear Number 4: I AM AFRAID IT WILL CHANGE ME FOREVER

Well, now we’re on to some real truths.

Money, fame, and alcohol shows who you really are when you feel like you no longer need to be nice.

Pursuing your version of success and overcoming all the obstacles on the way is one of the greatest ways of self-discovery.

It’s the battlefield of life’s journey that shows you what you’re made of!

My passion is to take your Confidence to the next level. To Supercharge Your Confidence and be that success that you really crave for! I am here to help!

Are you stepping into your individuality? Are you showing the world the real you?

What is holding you back to show that you are different to anyone else?

We often comply to society or to certain norms or conform to social media trends in order not to stand out!

But in not showing who you are you tend to lose yourself in a sea of so-so.

So I wanted to ask Google AI a specific question along the lines of self-worth and confidence and being in the now.

I asked it the following question, and got some very interesting and heartfelt replies to that question.

Tell me what you think of this detailed reply!

Here is the question I asked of it:-

“If I could catch time in a bottle. What answers would it give me?”

If you could catch time in a bottle, the answers it would give you wouldn't be facts or secrets, but profound truths about the human experience.

The bottle would likely hold reflections on the nature of reality, reminding us that its power lies not in controlling the past or seeing the future, but in appreciating the preciousness of the present moment.

What the bottle would contain

A paradox of control and surrender. You would possess time, yet the act of bottling it would be a futile illusion. The bottle would show you that genuine control over your life comes not from stopping time, but from deciding how you will spend the finite moments you are given.

It would answer with the profound irony that true mastery of time comes from letting go of the need to capture it.

The answers are within you. The time in the bottle would reveal that you already know the most important answers. Like the lyrics of Jim Croce's song, it would serve as a poignant reminder to spend your time with the ones you love and to find meaning in the present, before it becomes a regretful memory.

A mirror of humanity. The time in the bottle would be a reflection of all the moments that have ever been: the triumphs, the heartbreaks, the forgotten details, and the epic events.

The answer it provides would not be your personal story alone, but the story of all of existence, urging you to see your brief existence as part of an eternal, flowing stream.

What the bottle would not answer

The bottle of time would not provide the practical or magical answers a person might expect.

It would not tell you:

What the future holds, as that information would render your present actions meaningless and erase the purpose of choice.

How to turn back the clock, as the irreversibility of time is what gives moments their preciousness and weight.

Utimately, the answers from time in a bottle would arrive not as a spoken revelation, but as a silent, transformative understanding.

The bottle would be empty, forcing you to look at the time you already have and encouraging you to spend it wisely.

Perhaps a comment on life in general and seizing the moment!
