Stress and anxiety is so commonplace these days, it can reach us all.
Globally, we are living in challenging and unpredictable times, where the impact of wars, inflation, and pandemics can be held in our systems.
This can greatly influence us all individually. Feeling unsettled, uncertain, lower levels of resilience, unable to properly immerse in grounding, earthing or meditation. It may affect how we are able to detach and switch off from the busy and wired world, including social media and the news. But ultimately, our ability to fully decompress, relax, find an inner sense of peace, calm and joy.
Stress causes tension in the body which can have wide-reaching effects both emotionally and physically and anxiety keeps us trapped in a mental loop, often detaching us from connecting to our real felt senses in the body.
How do we shift from over-thinking with our minds into feeling internally with our body sensations?
Health flows when we become more present, grounded and embodied. We need to tune into our body sensations in order to slow things down. It’s not easy and requires practice. Breathing techniques such as a slower exhales, square breathing, mindfulness and meditation practices are really beneficial in facilitating this slowing down process. Allowing us to pause from the business of the mind and to be more present, alive and awake in our body.
When we really check in with ourselves we have the innate tools to down-regulate our nervous system, from a fight or flight state, to a more calm and relaxed rest and digest state. This is crucial in helping to reduce stress and anxiety. Somatic movement, dancing, chanting also helps.
Craniosacral therapy helps clients to down-regulate their nervous system through a variety of nourishing and supportive holds that work directly with the NS, and offering a safe space and sense of stillness for clients.
