🎉 We were delighted to celebrate the official opening of our new Crewkerne practice last week.

It was wonderful to welcome The Mayor of Crewkerne, Councillor Alice Samuel, alongside local businesses, community representatives and guests, as we marked this exciting milestone for South West Hearing Care.

Thank you to everyone who attended and supported us.

A big moment is just around the corner for our trainee Audiologist, Ele 🎓

She is now sitting her final exams and assessment and in just a few weeks time, she will qualify as a fully registered Audiologist — a huge achievement and one we are all incredibly proud of.

Balancing studying, working in clinic, and family life is no small feat, but Ele has taken it all in her stride with real dedication and care for our patients.

Go Ele!

We have recently said a fond farewell to our wonderful Westbury receptionist, Sylvie, as she heads into a well-earned retirement 💐

Sylvie joined us in February 2023 and, over the past three years, has been a friendly and reassuring face for so many of our patients. Her warmth, kindness and organisation have made a real difference to our team and everyone who walked through our doors.

To mark the occasion, Sylvie was presented with a beautiful hand-tied bouquet from Munday's of Street, along with some gift vouchers as a small thank you for all she has done.

Sylvie tells us she is looking forward to spending more time with family and friends, making the most of her bus pass, joining new groups, and enjoying plenty of adventures by train!

We shall miss you, Sylvie, but we are so excited for your next chapter. Wishing you a happy, relaxing and fulfilling retirement.

The mental load of hearing loss is exhausting.

Not because of what you can’t hear, but because of how hard you’re working to keep up. Filling in the gaps, reading faces, trying not to miss anything.

Most people don’t see it—but you feel it.

If this sounds familiar, this piece may really resonate 👇

The mental load of hearing loss often goes unnoticed. Learn how listening effort causes fatigue, withdrawal, and reduced confidence.

Today we celebrate all the wonderful mums, grandmothers and mother figures in our lives. 💐

So many of our favourite memories are built around sound – Mum’s voice, her laughter, her words of wisdom and those everyday conversations that mean so much.

At South West Hearing Care, we are passionate about helping people stay connected to the moments that matter most.

Wishing everyone in our community a very happy Mother’s Day. 🌸

For Simon, hearing care has always been personal.

Through South West Hearing Care, Simon and his team have spent years supporting people across Somerset and Wiltshire to hear better and reconnect with the moments that matter most. For him, it has never simply been about hearing aids — it’s about people, relationships, and being someone patients can rely on long after their first appointment.

As an independent, locally run practice, South West Hearing Care is built on trust, continuity of care, and genuine connections within the communities we serve.

When you choose a local hearing care provider, you are choosing a team that is invested in the people and places around them — not just a set of hearing aids.

Thank you for supporting local, independent businesses.

Help a loved on to hear better.

At South West Hearing Care, we believe better hearing can be truly life-changing. If you’ve already experienced the benefits, why not help someone else take that step too?

Through our Refer a Friend scheme, you’ll receive a £50 reward for every recommendation that goes on to purchase hearing aids with us.

You can choose to:
💷 Have the £50 paid directly into your bank account, or
🦮 Ask us to donate it on your behalf to Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.

It is our way of saying thank you for helping others rediscover the joy of better hearing.

WORLD HEARING DAY 👂

Today marks World Hearing Day, an annual campaign organised by the World Health Organisation to highlight the impact of hearing loss and the value of good ear and hearing health.

At South West Hearing Care, we’re reminded daily just how life-changing a routine hearing assessment can be — from bringing back the joy of easy conversations with loved ones, to rediscovering favourite songs, to feeling assured and engaged in the workplace.

Hearing changes can happen slowly, which is why many people put off getting advice. If the television volume has gradually increased, conversations in noisy environments feel harder to follow, or you are frequently asking people to repeat themselves, it may be worth arranging a check.

World Hearing Day is an important prompt that:
👂 Your hearing health deserves attention
👂 Acting sooner leads to better outcomes
👂 Seeing a qualified professional makes all the difference

If you are worried about your own hearing, or someone close to you, our team is here to support you.

Appointments are available at our clinics in Street, Crewkerne, Westbury and Somerton.
