Help a loved on to hear better.

At South West Hearing Care, we believe better hearing can be truly life-changing. If you’ve already experienced the benefits, why not help someone else take that step too?

Through our Refer a Friend scheme, you’ll receive a £50 reward for every recommendation that goes on to purchase hearing aids with us.

You can choose to:
💷 Have the £50 paid directly into your bank account, or
🦮 Ask us to donate it on your behalf to Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.

It is our way of saying thank you for helping others rediscover the joy of better hearing.

WORLD HEARING DAY 👂

Today marks World Hearing Day, an annual campaign organised by the World Health Organisation to highlight the impact of hearing loss and the value of good ear and hearing health.

At South West Hearing Care, we’re reminded daily just how life-changing a routine hearing assessment can be — from bringing back the joy of easy conversations with loved ones, to rediscovering favourite songs, to feeling assured and engaged in the workplace.

Hearing changes can happen slowly, which is why many people put off getting advice. If the television volume has gradually increased, conversations in noisy environments feel harder to follow, or you are frequently asking people to repeat themselves, it may be worth arranging a check.

World Hearing Day is an important prompt that:
👂 Your hearing health deserves attention
👂 Acting sooner leads to better outcomes
👂 Seeing a qualified professional makes all the difference

If you are worried about your own hearing, or someone close to you, our team is here to support you.

Appointments are available at our clinics in Street, Crewkerne, Westbury and Somerton.

We are always incredibly grateful when patients take the time to share their experiences with us, and thank you to Sonia for leaving us this wonderful review on Google over the weekend.

If you have felt supported, welcomed and well cared for at South West Hearing Care, your words could make a real difference to someone else who may be struggling in silence.

For many people with hearing loss, taking that first step can feel daunting. Reading about positive, reassuring experiences from others in the local community can give them the confidence to seek help.

If we have helped you on your hearing journey, we would be so thankful if you would consider leaving us a review. Your feedback not only supports our small, independent practice - it could help someone else find the care they need. 💙

How cool is this 🐷🎙️👂

Huge shout-out to Jodie Ounsley, deaf rugby player, England international and Gladiators star, who is lending her voice to an Audiologist in an upcoming episode of Peppa Pig!

It is brilliant to see hearing care represented on such a loved children’s show and to have such an inspiring role model involved!

Known to millions as Fury, ex-Exeter Chiefs player Jodie Ounsley will voice a character in the show.

Today sees the return of Tinnitus Week (2-8 February) and new research from hearing loss charity RNID shows that tinnitus doesn’t just affect hearing – it can significantly affect peoples' mental health, contributing to anxiety, low mood, stress and sleep difficulties.

https://rnid.org.uk/2026/02/tinnitus-is-harming-mental-health-new-research-reveals/?_gl=1*cs3b23*_up*MQ..*_gs*MQ

When tinnitus feels constant or intrusive, it can be exhausting. And when it’s combined with untreated hearing loss, those effects can feel even stronger.

The most important message? You don’t have to cope alone.

Seeking help early – both for your hearing and your wellbeing – can make a real difference.

Our new research finds that tinnitus is significantly affecting people’s wellbeing, making everyday tasks more difficult and leaving one in three individuals concerned about the future.

🏦➡️👂 Did you know our new Crewkerne practice used to be a bank?

The old bank vault is still here… but it’s had a serious upgrade.
We’ve converted it into our hearing assessment booth. It's thick walls together with some added acoustic panelling, provides perfect conditions for conducting diagnostic hearing assessments.

A brilliant bit of the building’s history, given a brand-new purpose!

Our lovely Nurse Zoe is kindly stepping in to cover our ear wax removal clinic for Victoria, who’s unfortunately been caught up in the flooding. We’re very grateful, and she’s even managed to enjoy an impromptu cup of tea in between appointments!

With all the recent wet weather, we just want to gently remind all our patients to take extra care when travelling to appointments. If roads are flooded or conditions don’t feel safe, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us — your safety always comes first.

A recent BBC report has put to the spotlight back on ear wax removal being largely unregulated in the UK, meaning people can have their ears cleared by someone with little to no clinical training.

This puts patients at risk of injury, infection or even hearing damage because unqualified providers aren’t trained to recognise underlying issues or treat complications safely.

At South West Hearing Care, we do ear wax removal the right way:

✨ Performed only by rigorously trained, qualified and experienced Nurses, Audiologists and Hearing Professionals
✨ Using safe, clinical techniques (like microsuction) designed to protect your ear hearing health
✨ With a focus on spotting anything concerning — not just removing wax

Ear wax removal may seem simple, but safely managing requires clinical expertise. We urge you to be careful with your provider of choice.
