I know Paula and many of us want a little help from time to time focusing.
So here are the 4 essential oils I would look at first when creating a focus blend to use in a diffuser while you work, or in a body or bath oil to use in the morning.
And any client choosing aromatherapy massage would get a home made blend to suit during their aromatherapy appointment.

I would probably chose rosemary to start as its probably best known to focus the mind.

Following on from questions made last week in response to my post about aromatherapy massages I am now including 2 slides about energising and uplifting oils, which Helmsley Meadows and Suzi Wilson were interested in.

There are many energising oils, I use 10 regularly in my work, including those I have listed.
Uplifting is not a class of effects and the main oil I would always consider to uplift is Jasmine. However as you can see other oils are also uplifting as their secondary effect such as clary sage, mandarin and orange.

Grapefruit and orange essential oils are primarily energising and also uplifting, so I would try and include one of both oils in a blend where the client wanted energising and uplifting.

(Coming soon, more info on oils to help you focus for Paula and others who might want their aromatherapy massage during the day.)

Which of these oils have you used before or would you like to try?

One of my most popular treatments for people with muscle tension is massage. Clients often walk in with their shoulders up and with tight necks, and when they leave they are smiling and their shoulders have dropped and they are saying how loose and light they feel.
Aromatherapy can also enhance the massage, by smelling lovely but mainly for the changes different oils have on the body.

Aromatherapy uses essential oils, which are concentrated plant essences to help get physical and mental changes.

Oils have specific effects though most of them belong to groups of relaxing, balancing, cleansing, uplifting and energizing.

Which of these key actions or effects do you think you need over the next week or 2? And I can post about which specific oils fall into those groups you might be interested in.

My foxglove is 7 ft 1.5 inches. Is this a record?

I also found 2 more asparagus which had already gone to flower before I saw and ate them.

Also about 5 years ago a strawberry plant self seeded in my front garden. Year by year they have multiplied but usually the slugs or birds get the berries.
This year I got them all! Another record.

Do you have any garden tales or records to share this year?

Wild swimming! This has been around for many years and more recently been studied and shown to be good for health by reducing stress and getting us close to nature.

The late Dr Micheal Moseley did a program on cold water and advocated daily cold showers as bringing many health benefits including improving immunity.

I thought I would share this link for Yorkshire folk who might want to expand their Wild Swimming repertoire. (Thanks to Helen who sent it to me.)

Do share your wild swimming spots snd stories below.

Photo of the Monet Lake. The day I took this photo the dragon flies and water lilies were stunning and we saw lots of ladybird larvae on leaves overhanging the lake.

Well what interesting news! Orcas have been observed selecting strands of seaweed and then massaging the seaweed tubes between their bodies, as they swim.
If you click through to the link in the comments you can see this happening in a video.
I wonder why they do it but I guess they get good sensory feedback from it.

If you want to find out what all the fuss is about, and you find it hard to schedule a swim with a pod of orcas, do get in touch with me. I can arrange a massage with or without seaweed and definately without killer whales in the safety of my treatment room in Strensall.
Usually I use nut and seed oils and aromatherapy essential oils.
If you would like a leaflet of my treatments please message me your e mail and I will be happy to send one through.

Well that's my 1 day Emergency First Aid at work qualification completed today. It will take up to 4 weeks to get my certificate through but I have passed and my tutors signature is my proof.

Luckily I have never needed to use my 1st aid training at home or at work apart from minor cuts, scraps, burns, bites and stings. And I hope not to need it in the future.

Taking this course is a significant investment, it's over £230, and a full day out of work, especially as it is not a requirement of my workplace or insurance.
Even though my workplace is considered low risk this training gives me and hopefully you too, peace of mind should anything crop up.

Have you ever performed or needed 1st aid?
Or any loved ones? Please comment below.

My business and personal ethos is to support health naturally. I do this in many ways and one of them is with a weekly online Somatic Habit class by Karen. She shows us how to restore balance and movement in the body by a gentle tensing of muscles and then a slow and thoughtful release. Her methods have reduced by painful back days and improved my hip and knee trouble and I can feel my body realigning, as I walk around after a class.

If you want to try a 30 minute free taster with Karen to see whats its all about look for the link in my comments below.

Hawaiian massage......this rarely booked massage is offered to ladies only, and it is a wonderful exotic treat where I assist you to completely let go.

It is deeply spiritual, and uses the ancient wisdom of the Kahunas (the Hawaiian wise men or shamens) in a treatment that I describe as a cross between a massage and spiritual healing.

The massage itself is gentle, yet firm. It is deeply rythmical and uses a neutral base oil (no scent) in long flowing strokes. Many of which are repeated 3 times. This all helps the release of tension from muscles and mind.

Before you arrive for your treatment spiritual energy is used to prepare the room, and during the treatment you will receive more energy.
The massage strokes are usually started if not completed in a single out-breath, (of the therapist, you are free to breathe as normal!)

I was lucky enough to be taught this massage by Rosalie Samet, who learnt it direct from village elders during 3 months living in Hawaii.
And where did Rosalie teach me? ....by the sea in Yorkshire.

Ladies please enquire, no obligation to book.

Lemon Balm in my garden and the essential oil of lemon balm usually called Melissa.

I am so lucky as lemon balm loves growing in my garden, and I have 6 clumps which pop up year after year. It looks so lush and has doubled in size in the last week.
It's a member of the mint family which is easy to remember if you look at its characteristic square stalks. It does smell of lemons (not mint).

I can include Melissa essential oils in aromatherapy massage, it's actions are; calming allergies, calming asthma, it's good for colds, colic, depression, dysentery, fevers, indigestion, hypertension, menstrual problems, migraine, palpitations, nausea, nervous tension, shock, vertigo, vomiting.

Do you grow lemon balm? Do you ever use the herb or essential oil? And if you do how do you use it and for what?
