FLU VACCINATIONS - Following a review by the Joint Committee on Vaccination & Immunisation (JCVI), the seasonal flu vaccination campaign for most patients will begin on 1st October this year. This change is to ensure maximum protection from the vaccine when influenza infections are at a peak.

We will be holding dedicated flu/covid vaccination clinics on;- Saturday 4th October 9am - 12pm, Thursday 16th October 12.30pm – 3pm, Saturday 18th October 9am - 12pm and Thursday 23rd October 12.30pm – 3pm.

Patient eligible for a NHS flu vaccination will receive a text message from the Surgery in August with a link to book an appointment or can call the surgery from 19th August.

Details of all eligible patient groups can be found at www.nhs.uk/vaccinations/flu-vaccine.

PREGNANT WOMEN - All pregnant women are eligible for a seasonal flu vaccination from 1st September at any time during the pregnancy. They are also eligible for the RSV vaccine from 28 weeks pregnant as RSV infection is common in young children and this vaccination gives protection to the new-born.

For those patient's privately using injectable Incretin-based Therapies - Semaglutide (Ozempic) and Tirzepatide (Mounjaro), there has been evidence to suggest that they can affect the efficacy of oral progesterone, especially on initiation or uptitration of injection doses.

Therefore, please make an appointment with our clinical pharmacist to discuss this if you are on a progesterone containing oral contraception or are using an oral progesterone as part of a HRT regime.

Dementia Action Week is an awareness raising campaign. Each year, Alzheimer's Society works with individuals and organisations across the UK to encourage people to act on dementia. This year we are focussing on diagnosis and educating audiences on the most common symptoms of dementia.

Receiving an early, accurate diagnosis can help people and their loved ones plan for the future, receive emotional and practical support, and better manage symptoms. It can make dementia feel less daunting for those affected by the condition.

If you're worried about yourself, or someone close to you, get help describing your symptoms to a GP by filling in our symptoms checklist.
