Having regular smear tests can be a really effective way of finding patients who are at risk of cervical cancer but NHS data suggests around 5 million women in the UK are not up to date with their routine smear tests. We are currently working on a project to increase the number of patients attending these vital appointments.
If you have ever had a smear test, or been invited to book a smear test, you might be able to help us with this project by clicking on the link below and taking part in a quick survey. It's completely anonymous and only takes a few minutes but you could help us to understand what we can do to support patients to stay up to date with their smear tests.

In the next few days we will begin inviting eligible patients to book an appointment in our autumn vaccination clinics. This year will be different from previous years as the guidance for who is entitled to flu and COVID vaccinations has changed.

You are eligible for a FLU vaccination if you:
• are aged 65 or over
• have long-term health conditions such as COPD or Diabetes
• are pregnant
• live in a care home
• are a carer/receive a carer's allowance
• live with someone who has a weakened immune system

This year you are only eligible for a COVID booster if you:
• are aged 75 or over
• live in a care home for older adults
• are aged 6 months to 74 years and have a weakened immune system because of a health condition or treatment. This includes patients who are undergoing chemotherapy, have had an organ transplant, are prescribed immunosuppressing medications etc.

To help us to ensure that everyone receives the correct vaccinations for them some clinics will be restricted to specific age groups. Further information will be available on our website.

Weight Loss Medication Update – Mounjaro (Tirzepatide)
We know there's a lot of interest in the new weight loss medication, Mounjaro (Tirzepatide), recently approved by NICE. However, GP practices in Gloucestershire are currently unable to prescribe it until we receive further guidance from our Integrated Care Board (ICB) and NHS England.
Initially, it will only be available through specialist weight management services for those with the greatest clinical need. Please do not contact your GP surgery about accessing this medication just yet.
For now, you can find healthy lifestyle support and resources via the NHS Gloucestershire website:

Our appointment system is changing. We are looking to move away from the 8am rush and only offering on the day appointments. Our new system aims to offer appointments (depending on urgency) over the next week ahead.
Please support our reception team as they look to ensure you receive the most appropriate care in the most appropriate timeframe.
Rest assured that the new system will be constantly monitored and optimised as we move forward.
As ever the patience and support of our patients is very much appreciated. Thank you.
