Every year in the run up to Christmas our team donate food items and other essentials to a "food bank box" which is then delivered to a local food bank in mid-December. Today these boxes were delivered to Chalford Parish Council which runs a food bank for people living locally.
If you are struggling to afford the essentials this Christmas there are lots of organisations that might be able to help. You can find more information about local food banks and how to access them at: https://www.stroudtown.gov.uk/stroud-food-hubs

A reminder that building work to repair our dispensary will begin on Monday. Three parking spaces (next to our two disabled bays) will be blocked from tomorrow and remain out of use until the work is completed.
There will also be some changes to our dispensary service which will allow our dispensary team to avoid delays to prescriptions while the repair work takes place. You can find more information about this below.

An update regarding the repair work at Frithwood Surgery this winter:

22/10/2025

Following an incident this summer where a vehicle collided with Frithwood Surgery we have been making arrangements to repair the damage to our building.
We have now been informed that repair work is scheduled to begin in late November and will likely continue into January. We do not expect this to cause any disruption to our normal clinics however a section of the car park will be out of use and there may be some disruption to our dispensary as that is where the majority of the repairs are needed.
We will continue to post updates here as soon as we have further information.

A HUGE thank you to our brilliant team who were here all day on Saturday to run our first autumn vaccination clinic of 2025. In total 986 patients received flu and/or COVID vaccinations!

If you are eligible for a flu or COVID vaccine and have not already booked an appointment it's not too late, we have additional clinics in October and November. You can find more information about which vaccines are available and whether you are eligible for them here:

Having regular smear tests can be a really effective way of finding patients who are at risk of cervical cancer but NHS data suggests around 5 million women in the UK are not up to date with their routine smear tests. We are currently working on a project to increase the number of patients attending these vital appointments.
If you have ever had a smear test, or been invited to book a smear test, you might be able to help us with this project by clicking on the link below and taking part in a quick survey. It's completely anonymous and only takes a few minutes but you could help us to understand what we can do to support patients to stay up to date with their smear tests.

In the next few days we will begin inviting eligible patients to book an appointment in our autumn vaccination clinics. This year will be different from previous years as the guidance for who is entitled to flu and COVID vaccinations has changed.

You are eligible for a FLU vaccination if you:
• are aged 65 or over
• have long-term health conditions such as COPD or Diabetes
• are pregnant
• live in a care home
• are a carer/receive a carer's allowance
• live with someone who has a weakened immune system

This year you are only eligible for a COVID booster if you:
• are aged 75 or over
• live in a care home for older adults
• are aged 6 months to 74 years and have a weakened immune system because of a health condition or treatment. This includes patients who are undergoing chemotherapy, have had an organ transplant, are prescribed immunosuppressing medications etc.

To help us to ensure that everyone receives the correct vaccinations for them some clinics will be restricted to specific age groups. Further information will be available on our website.
