☀️ Making the most of the sunshine! ☀️
Last week our wonderful Activities Team took full advantage of the beautiful weather, bringing residents outside to enjoy some fresh air in the garden and courtyard. 🌿💛
They hosted a lovely little tea party complete with cakes, chats and plenty of smiles and the fun didn’t stop there! A lively game of 'Higher or Lower' using giant playing cards had everyone laughing and getting competitive in the best possible way. 🃏😄
Moments like these truly brighten our days and bring so much joy to our residents. 💖

❤️ Red Nose Day at Horsfall House ❤️
Our amazing staff across the Home and Day Centre went bright and bold today by wearing red to mark Red Nose Day and help raise funds for this year’s fantastic causes. 🔴✨
To add to the fun our brilliant staff, day centre clients and home residents baked some special Red Nose fairy cakesand biscuits, and Jack our wonderful Assistant Chef once again whipped up a batch of delicious cupcakes to sell. 🧁👏 Every penny raised helps make a difference.
A huge thank you to everyone who joined in, donated, dressed up, baked or bought a treat. 🎉🔴

☕🎶 Our monthly Sunday Coffee Shop 🎶☕
Once a month on a Sunday afternoon, our Coffee Shop brings residents, clients and their families together for two lovely hours of conversation, music and treats.
Huge thanks to our fantastic volunteers who help run the café, and to our staff who kindly donate homemade cakes - they are always a highlight. Our activities team organise each afternoon and arrange a musician, whose live music adds something really special to the afternoon.
As a not‑for‑profit nursing home, these events help build community while supporting meaningful activities for those who live with us. Thank you to everyone who makes our Coffee Shops so enjoyable. 💙

🌸 Celebrating Mothering Sunday 🌸 NEW PHOTOS ADDED!
Mothering Sunday has a long history in the UK, dating back to the Middle Ages. Traditionally a religious observance on the fourth Sunday of Lent, it was a day when people returned to their “mother church”. By the 16th century it had evolved into a significant annual event where workers were given the day off to travel home to visit their mothers. This practice became known as "going a-mothering" and over time, the day has evolved into a celebration of mothers, carers and all those who nurture and support others in so many ways.
This week, we marked Mothering Sunday in a way that reflected that spirit of care and connection. Residents and clients enjoyed arts and crafts sessions, creating flower vases and handmade pieces💐 and a special Mothers' Day afternoon tea was held in our Cotswold Unit organised by carers Michelle and Kelsey 💙

🏇 Residents and clients enjoyed a themed afternoon inspired by Cheltenham week, taking part in a light‑hearted mock horse race game, which brought plenty of smiles and friendly interaction. ✨
For many, it is less about the racing itself and more about the atmosphere: the colours, the excitement, the friendly chat and the opportunity to spend time together doing something a little different.💚 ..and the fun carried on Gold Cup day as our day centre clients enjoyed their own Cheltenham‑themed race, full of smiles and friendly competition. 🏇💚

🎈🏸 Game on…Paralympics energy in the Day Centre!🏸🎈
We might not have a stadium but we definitely have the spirit of the Paralympics in full swing in our Day Centre.
Clients picked up their bats for a rousing game of balloon badminton - with brilliant teamwork, a little friendly rivalry and gold‑medal giggles all round! 😄✨
It’s amazing what a balloon, a bat and a room full of encouragement can do for confidence, coordination and connection. 💙👏

💜 International Women’s Day 2026 💜
Today we celebrate the incredible women who make up such a large part of the Horsfall House family.
From nurses and carers to housekeeping, catering, activities, administration, leadership and our volunteers – women play a vital role in creating an organisation where compassion, dignity and kindness are at the heart of everything we do.
At the same time, we want to recognise all our staff - of every gender - who work together as one team to support our community. It’s the respect, teamwork and shared values across our whole workforce that make our home such a special place to live and work.
On International Women’s Day, we celebrate progress, champion equality and say a heartfelt thank you to the women who inspire us - while standing proudly alongside everyone who helps our residents live well, safely and with dignity.💐

🎉 What a fantastic Friday night of quizzing and community spirit! 🧠✨
Last Friday we were delighted to join friends and supporters at the Minchinhampton Baptist Church for their brilliant fundraiser quiz night - a wonderfully warm, competitive and laughter‑filled evening.
With quiz master Howard Scott keeping everyone on their toes, 80 keen quizzers packed the room and helped raise an amazing £517 for our nursing home, day centre and home care service 💙👏. We’re so grateful to everyone who came along, took part and supported the event.
🏆 Huge congratulations to the two winning teams: Artificial Intelligence and The Spillers - very well deserved! 🍾
🍫 And commiserations to the two teams at the other end of the table, who were at least rewarded with some sweets for comfort (and morale!) 😄
A heartfelt thank you to Quizmasters Howard, Jane and Laurence, sound engineer May and all who helped organise such a successful evening. Thank you to the MBC community for allowing Sarah, our Fundraiser, to say a few words about Horsfall House at the start, and to our volunteer, Alison, who joyfully met and greeted everyone. Events like this make a real difference to the lives of our residents and clients and we couldn’t do it without you 💐

📚✨ World Book Day at Horsfall House ✨📚
Stories, smiles and Day Centre fun all round 📖 Our clients enjoyed a cosy afternoon watching Roald Dahl’s Matilda 🎬🍿 enjoying popcorn and developing a strong dislike for Miss Trunchbull 😄
And of course, there was a little mischief too… 👀 meet our mannequin Denise the Menace 😈😂, keeping everyone on their toes and causing plenty of giggles 🤭
World Book Day is an annual celebration that champions reading and literacy 📚 for everyone, at every age. It’s a wonderful reminder of the power of stories to spark memories ✨, connect generations 👵👦 and bring people together 🤝.
A lovely reminder of how stories bring people together, at every age 📚❤️

There’s nothing quite like the sound of laughter echoing through our home 💛
Last week, residents in our Gatcombe and Cotswold units were delighted to welcome back the local childminder and the wonderful children who visit us so regularly. Together they enjoyed a joyful morning of balloon badminton, drawing and collage‑making, and a very enthusiastic round of knocking down cans with bean bags - just like a traditional fairground coconut shy!
These intergenerational sessions are about so much more than games. They spark conversation, encourage gentle movement and create meaningful connections across generations. Seeing our residents and the children cheering one another on is a reminder of how powerful shared play and creativity can be.
A heartfelt thank you to the childminder and families who make these visits possible and to our staff who help create such welcoming, happy moments. This is care at its most human ❤️

💛 Dathlu Dydd Gŵyl Dewi gyda chacennau cri! 🌼🏴
Yesterday our Day Centre was filled with the wonderful aroma of baking as clients rolled up their sleeves to make traditional Welsh cakes to celebrate St David’s Day.
Moments like these are about so much more than baking; they’re about connection, confidence and the joy of doing something together...and a few warm samples enjoyed along the way 😋.
A huge thank you to our Day Centre team for making it such a lovely morning and to our clients for reminding us that the simplest activities often create the happiest moments 💙
⚠️Full disclosure: yes, I did use AI for this post title and I'm happy to be corrected by any Welsh speakers among our followers 🐉 🏴
