When we’ve experienced prolonged childhood trauma, there is often a mismatch in the explicit and imllicit. Often we feel so different on the inside than we present to the outside world.

My survival as a child depended on me acting 'normal' at all times, not letting anyone see what was going on. So it wasn't surprising that I tried my best to act 'normal' into adulthood, hiding the trauma beneath.

This week is and awareness week and
The ramifications of any sexual abuse whether you experienced it when you were young or old, whether you are male or female are deep and long lasting, impacting your self-esteem, your trust in others, relationships and fundamentally your sense of safety even if you believe you have moved on. Even once you’ve healed explicitly the implicit memories can crop up for years both physically and mentally. The sense of shame that often comes hand in hand with your experience can stop you seeking help. But here’s the thing, with the right help, you can recover from this, you can learn to live an authentic and rich, meaningful, connected life.
I specialise in helping people just like you every day, I am a qualified counsellor registered with the BACP and also a Clinical Counselling Teauma Practioner.
I understand the complexities of unpicking all of your experience but I also understand the freedom that can provide.

Welcome. I am a experienced counsellor working in private practice in Tunbridge Wells from my own dedicated practice. I offer counselling for problems such as anxiety, depression, self-esteem, bereavement, loss, relationships, abuse and trauma. I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists and an associate counsellor for West Kent Mind.

Being a member of the BACP(British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists)means that not only do I and adhere to their code of ethics but I have had quality training and continue to learn through ongoing courses and self-development.

Finding the right therapist is key to the success of your therapy and I aim to provide a non-judgemental and safe space for you to explore your feelings, fostering an environment of trust.
