New team member!!!

We would like to welcome a new member to The White Practice team. Elizabeth Williams will be joining us here in Nailsworth from 6 May running a dedicated soft tissue massage clinic, offering professional treatments while continuing her training to become an osteopath. As a qualified and practising Pilates instructor, Elizabeth has developed a deep understanding of core strength, postural alignment, and functional movement patterns. Her Pilates background gives her valuable insights into body mechanics and rehabilitation principles, which she integrates into her soft tissue approach.

Meet the Team - Osteopath Nick

Nick White BOst (graduated from the British School of Osteopathy) established The White Practice, Nailsworth in 2007. Nick’s interest in osteopathy began following his own injury in a car accident, where osteopathy played a huge part in his recovery. With over 20 years in practice since he began his five year training as an osteopath, Nick is still fascinated by the human body and its ability to adapt and recover.
Nick enjoys treating all ages, employing a range of techniques – Nick is also qualified to treat using LLLT (Low Level Laser Therapy).

In addition to human practice, Nick is a qualified Animal Osteopath, treating horses, dogs and small animals. Nick runs a small animal clinic from The White Practice in Nailsworth – please email enquiries@thewhitepractice.co.uk if you would like further information, or to book an appointment for your horse or small animal.

Outside of work, Nick is always keen to be outdoors, enjoying horse-riding with his daughters and competes in horse-back archery.

Meet the Team - Osteopath Philippa

Philippa Wingate trained at Swansea University where she obtained a first class Masters degree in Osteopathy (M.Ost) before undertaking postgraduate training in Animal Osteopathy. She enjoys treating using a wide variety of techniques, from mobilisation and manipulation to gentler soft tissues and cranial techniques, tailoring treatment to each individual. She has a special interest in hyper-mobility and fibromyalgia. As a keen mountain biker, horse rider and rock climber, Philippa also has an interest in sports injuries.

Philippa is also qualified in the use of Low Level Laser therapy for both humans and animals, is a fully trained Pilates instructor and has undertaken training with the Sutherland College of Cranial Osteopathy.

Philippa also has a keen interest in research and is currently undertaking a PhD with Hartpury University where she is researching the effects of Osteopathic treatment on horses.

The garden’s calling……..

It’s about this time of year that we like to remind our patients to go steady in the garden. As we all well know, the first signs of that elusive sun and us avid gardeners get itchy footed and want to get straight back in, right where we left off.
BUT just remember, if you have had a winter ‘off’ from the outdoor chores, so will some of your body’s gardening muscles and therefore they will need easing back into the bending, reaching, lifting, digging……etc. Try to build slowly on how much you set yourself and alternate between jobs to avoid repetitive strains. Wishing you all happy gardening ….and you know where we are if you need us.

Meet The Team - Osteopath Nikki

Nikki Straughan has been with the practice since 2008. She treats the whole family but is our go-to practitioner dealing with the youngsters (she began her career treating babies and children at the UKs leading paediatric clinic, the Osteopathic Centre for Children).

Nikki uses a combination of structural and cranial techniques so expect a very hands-on approach to treatment, plus advice on what to do (and what to avoid)!

You should also expect to play an active part in your own recovery….Nikki is an advocate for lifelong regular exercise playing tennis, cycling and swimming in local lakes & rivers when not working. Along with Philippa, Nikki is a trained Pilates instructor and routinely recommends Pilates-based exercises to aid recovery.

As well as treating babies and children, Nikki has a special interest in headaches and whiplash-related disorders.
