Re-opening on 12th April!

I am so happy to say that The Garden Room is reopening on 12th April. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year, a happy Valentine’s day, a lovely Mother’s day and an enjoyable Easter......yes, it really has been that long, having closed a little ahead of the current lockdown to have knee surgery.

I am so looking forward to welcoming back clients; it will be lovely to catch up with my regular clients and to meet new ones. I know how much some of you have been missing your regular massage treatments and can’t wait to restart.

The pressure of lockdowns and the additional sanitation and PPE requirements has forced me to review my treatment menu. I have discontinued some treatments but will continue offering the most popular ones. I have also had to introduce a price increase, effective from 12th April. Information about both will be available soon on the treatments page of my website.

Light at the End of the (very long) Tunnel!

Great news, we now have a date in sight to reopen.......12th April.

As this date is subject to the success of the measures leading up to it, I am initially only making bookings for my regular clients. Once this proposed date is confirmed, it will be all systems go! I am, after all, now bionic and can’t wait to try out my new knee!

Thanks for your patience; it will be fantastic to see you again. In the meantime continue to stay safe and well.

We are temporarily closed whilst Sara has and recovers from knee surgery. Rubbish timing coming so soon after lock down but, hey, may as well finish off this truly awful year with an operation!! The hope is to be back sometime in February.

Here we go again...........another temporary closure due to lockdown

Sadly, The Garden Room is once again closed, from Thursday 5th November, due to lockdown.

I am taking provision bookings from Wednesday 2nd December, the date on which it is hoped that we will be permitted to reopen, so please email me to secure a booking for your pre-Christmas treat.

If you would like to buy a gift voucher, this may be done via email and bank transfer and newly issued vouchers will be valid for 1 year. A voucher is a perfect gift, particularly if Christmas shopping proves to be a little tricky this year! Equally, it’s a wonderful way to say “thank you”, to someone who has helped you during this extraordinary year.

Happy International Day of Friendship

Today, 30th July, is International Day of Friendship.

Over the last few months, when our lives have been turned upside down, the value of friendship has never been greater.

The crisis has brought people together, we’re looking out for one another, having a conversation rather a strained “good morning” when passing in the street. Neighbours, acquaintances and sometimes strangers have become friends.

We took for granted being able to meet up with friends and missed this simple pleasure, when it was taken away.

So, let’s celebrate today and let your friends know what they mean to you.

If someone has been a particularly good friend to you and has helped you get through what, for many, has been such a difficult time, why not show them just how much you appreciate them and treat them to a massage?

Finally......the day has come......we can open!!!
It was announced late on Thursday afternoon that massage could resume on Monday 13th. Thanks so much for the 3 days notice Boris and friends!
I will be taking my first clients from Wednesday 15th and priority is given to regular clients and those who had their appointments cancelled in March and April.
There are some restrictions and facial treatments are not yet permitted. It will be interesting putting theory into practice and I'm sure things will change along the way but it's
F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S to be back!!

Oh and so it goes on.........no good news from Boris yet. Although hairdressers have been given the green light, massage is still a no no. The powers that be are still working on the best ways of making massage safe.
We have to be patient (mine is running a bit thin!) for a while longer until a date has been confirmed for reopening.
In the meantime, I've stocked up on PPE, taking an educated guess on what we may be expected use and I have enough disinfectant to sink a ship!!
Although I can't wait to see you all again, I must admit, I'm grateful not to be open quite yet, the thought of wearing PPE in these temperatures!!??
I really hope that it won't be too much longer and remember..........patience is a virtue and the best things are worth waiting for.

Hello Everyone,

Sadly, the Garden Room remains closed.

Below is a statement from Babtac, my professional body and insurer. Due to the vagueness of the statement made by the Prime Minister last night, more clarity is being sought before I am able to give any indication of when I am able to reopen.

I am missing you all and would like to thank those who have been in touch; your support is very much appreciated. I will be in contact again when I know more.

“Dear Members,
While we really do appreciate how difficult this time is for our members and the urgency to return to work, we ask for extreme caution interpreting the Prime Minister's speech this evening before more comprehensive details are published. We have already requested urgent clarity from government on the very broad statements given.
While there was reference to some returning to work for those who can't work from home, there was also more specific details of only allowing some hospitality businesses to return during Step 3 (July) and ONLY then if subject to all conditions and providing social distancing can be met.
As our industry remains one which cannot maintain these social distancing rules we advise our members to await further clarity from government on exactly who may return to work and when.
We are seeking these details for members urgently and will provide more information soon.”

How Quickly Things Change!

On Friday 20th March, the government requested that a variety of businesses close, with immediate effect, to attempt to slow the spread of the Corona virus. Massage businesses were included in this group, although not mentioned in the press conference! Treatments are therefore suspended until further notice.

Anyone with gift vouchers due to expire whilst closed, please email me to arrange an extension to the expiry date.

Coronavirus and Your Massage Treatment

I am endeavouring to make your visit to the Garden Room as safe as possible during these difficult and concerning times. I have minimised my own social contact, not only with my clients in mind but also my 87 year old mum, who I care for at home.

To reassure you, here are the measures currently in place:

1. Any clients with a cough, temperature, cold or flu symptoms are politely requested to postpone their treatment and remake for a future date, after the recommended 14 day isolation period. Anyone attending with any of these symptoms will not be treated at this time, so, if in doubt, please contact me to check beforehand to avoid disappointment.

2. If you are in close contact with anyone with the above symptoms, the same applies as in 1 above.

3. If I develop any of the above symptoms, I will cancel your appointment and provide as much notice as is possible.

4. All clients will be required to wash their hands on arrival.

5. Hard surfaces are sanitised between clients. Fresh towels and disposable covers are provided for each client (as always!). Used towels are laundered daily, using additional laundry cleanser.

6. Facial massages will be amended to avoid nose and mouth area.

7. If you need to cancel your appointment, please give as much notice as is possible. Cancellation charges will be waived during this period.

This situation and the advice and guidelines provided seem to be changing daily, so all of these measures and the decision to continue to practice is subject to change.

Clients........a constant source of joy!

As I’ve shared with you before, I receive some lovely comments and feedback from my clients but I heard a new one this week that really made me smile.
Marianne decided to try a WaveStone treatment, as she was suffering from a particularly sore and niggly back. Halfway through her treatment I heard a very contented sigh........not unusual but the words that followed, were.......”I feel just like a marshmallow”.
When I asked her what she meant, Marianne replied that “.....the bits of my body you’ve massaged feel all light and airy”. I guess she could have equally felt like a Milkyway or a Malteser but a Marshmallow was her sweetie of choice!
