Yoga changed my life 🧘♀️😊
I probably sound a little dramatic to most of you, but for me, this is true!
Many people associate yoga with the physical poses and stretches…so I’ll start there.
🧘♀️ I’ve always been flexible (due to dancing) and probably have been more flexible in the past than I am now, but there’s more to it than that and I feel better each day for doing my stretches and I look to the long term mobility benefits too.
💪 Physically, I’m the fittest and strongest I’ve ever been and I’m so grateful for that. I’ve challenged myself to run the Birmingham half marathon on Sunday but my upper body strength is better than it’s ever been thanks to the dedication I’ve shown to my yoga practice.
But there have been other benefits too which have helped change my life:
💭My self awareness and reflection on my moods, emotions, health and general wellbeing mean I’m far more in tune with my body and myself than ever before.
🧠 I’m feeling mentally well and yoga has taught me the importance of self reflection, boundaries, rest, taking time for myself and self care. I have up days and down days but yoga has provided me with many tools to help me navigate my way through these.
❗️ My priorities came into sharper focus and therefore I found a way to change my job, to shift my career and find a work life balance that works for me and my family. This did not happen overnight and there are still times where I’m ridiculously busy, but the centre of what I do comes from those priorities now so I find it easier to step back when I’m feeling out of balance.
💫 My true north helps me navigate so many day to day and also life impacting choices and decisions (and whilst I still procrastinate), I’m more aware of myself and what I want.
💖 Yoga has had an impact on my relationships - I’m getting better at apologising (yes I am, Mark!) and putting boundaries in place socially. I spend my time with friends where it’s effortless - where being with them feels natural and fills both of our cups.
🕐 I’ve learned to value time as the most important and precious thing we have.
