Marnhull Neighbourhood Plan - February 2026 Update
Thank you all for your support throughout the building of
the Marnhull’s Neighbourhood Plan. We are at the final
stages of the plan being adopted by Dorset Council.
Dorset Council has made the decision to go to referendum.
This is published on their website at:
https://moderngov.dorsetcouncil.gov.uk/ieDecisionDetails.aspx?ID=6216
The referendum will take place on 19th March 2026.
The question being asked is:
“Do you want Dorset Council to use the Neighbourhood
Plan for Marnhull to help it decide planning applications in
the neighbourhood area?”
You can vote either Yes or No.
The plan is adopted if more than 50% of those who vote
are in favour. There is no minimum turnout required for the
vote to be valid.
In order for you to vote you must be on the electoral roll,
and live in the defined area. The process includes options
for in-person, postal and proxy voting, just like standard
elections.
If the majority of votes support the plan Dorset Council will
formally adopt it within eight weeks.
Marnhull’s plan will then sit with the National plan and
Dorset’s local plan when deciding planning applications in
Marnhull Parish.
Dorset Council will publish its Information statement on 9th
February 2026, which will set out all the information about
the referendum - where hard copies will be, what time and
where you will need to be if you are going to vote in-person,
how to check you are on the electoral roll etc.
We will let you know as soon as we do.
Thank you for your support.
