Bank Holiday Sunshine! ☀️
Today residents Colin, Evelyn and Grace enjoyed a lovely trip to Glemsford for the village Sale Trail, exploring garden sales all around the community. After a few hours of wandering, we found a shady spot under a tree for a little picnic, cold drinks and a chat with some friendly locals. Resident Edith requested to keep a look out for a new necklace and matching bracelet, which she loves!

On the way back we stopped at Willow Tree Farm, where we met some ostriches, pigs and goats, a perfect end to a perfect day.

🇬🇧Mellish House proudly celebrated its accreditation under the Veteran Friendly Framework, coinciding with a special VE Day event.🇬🇧🎖

The day began with a reception in the ground‑floor dining room, attended by Reverend Jennie and other chairman's from the RBL , along with invited guests. Complimentary food and drinks were served as everyone gathered to mark the occasion.

🎊At 2:30pm, the celebration continued upstairs as guests joined residents in the first‑floor dining room for an afternoon party. Live music from Serena set the tone, with a fantastic selection of themed foods available. The atmosphere was lively and warm, with many residents singing, dancing, and enjoying the entertainment throughout the afternoon.

🎖It was a memorable day that honoured veterans, Well done to everyone involved 🙌

🌟 Hymns and Music with Jenny 🌟

Residents enjoyed a warm service with Reverend Jenny from St. Andrew’s Church, singing hymns together and making music with a few instruments. A simple, joyful morning filled with faith and togetherness.

🎶 Gentle and Lively 🎶

We were delighted to welcome back Libby from Musical Moments back this week. Residents took part in a lovely music therapy session, using a mix of instruments and props while singing along to familiar tunes. The joy on their faces said it all, music truly brightens our days.

Mellish House Care Home in Sudbury, Suffolk thrilled to be awarded Veteran Friendly status so they can better support veteran residents and the local community.

We’d like to introduce a new dining initiative at Mellish House Residential Home - a monthly Chef’s Table... Giving our chefs the opportunity to raise their game and go all out to impress 👨‍🍳!

This will be a premium dining experience designed to celebrate great food and stimulate conversation – an opportunity for our chefs to showcase their skills and creativity while spending meaningful time with our residents to better understand their tastes and preferences 🤝.

A selection of different residents will be selected each month, with resident Vic and his daughter Linda, taking to the table today for the pilot of our new initiative 🥘!

The Chef’s Table is a wonderful way to showcase the talent and passion of our chefs, create memorable dining moments for our residents and build stronger relationships through conversation and shared experiences.

This week our ladies enjoyed relaxing manicures, a chance to unwind, express themselves, and spark lovely conversations with their fresh new colours. From soft pastels to bold brights, every set of nails brought a smile.

🎶 Another wonderful afternoon of music therapy with Libby from Musical Moments 🎶

Residents had great fun exploring musical instruments and colourful props, filling the room with singing, laughter, and a few lovely moments of dancing. These sessions always bring such energy and connection to our home.

⭐Here at Mellish an event has been organised on 14th May to celebrate the anniversary of VE Day this year, this has been planned as a way of sharing the home’s VFF journey, and also as a relaxed, sociable gathering for residents, their families and members of the local community who would like to come together to mark the occasion.🎉

Event will take place inside the home starting at 1:30pm, complimentary refreshments will be provided.

🧡 Community kindness in Sudbury 🧡

As our residents love to be outdoors, they all the enjoy what our community has to offer, such as a scenic routes, history and of course, food and drink!

🦆Residents Annie and Gilly had to pop into Gregg's for the British classics and a coffee! A long stroll through the town, only to end up at the Mill Hotel with Sudbury's finest views, even feeding the ducks along the way. 🦢

We want to share some kindness from a man from Sudbury Market on 25th of April, our residents were so happy with his gestures of a necklace for Annie and Gilly. We all thank you for your kindness! 🧡
