☀️ A lovely day out in Sudbury!

Residents Gilly and Evelyn made the most of the sunshine with a gentle stroll through Sudbury town. They enjoyed fresh coffee and a cake, popped into a few charity shops for a browse and soaked up the sunny weather. A simple day, but such a joyful one spent together. ☀️

🍫 National Chocolate Cake Day! 🍰

On the 27th January, residents and relatives came together to bake a mouth‑watering selection of treats, including double chocolate chip brownies, salted caramel brownies and a thick sponge cake. Everything was finished with chunks of classic favourites like Milky Stars, Maltesers, KitKats and more.

Home baking brings real joy to our residents creating something together and tasting it fresh is simply unbeatable.

🌞📷Big Garden Birdwatch 2026! 🐦🕊
Our residents were excited to see the bird wildlife coming into their garden with resident Roger particularly interested and wanted to get involved as he loves birds and anything outdoors, whether gardening or a bit of fresh air, he even bought his daily paper with him to get his sunny morning started with some bird churping and a cup of tea!

A friendly Robin always welcome in our garden feeding off some mealworms placed just for them. We saw some long tailed t**s, blue t**s, some male and female black crows, even a hawk! And of course many woodland pigeons.

Let us know what you saw this year, we would love to see your time in the outdoors!🐦🕊

🇮🇳 India Republic Day Celebration 🎉

We kicked off the year celebrating India’s Republic Day with an incredible feast of traditional Indian dishes, lovingly prepared by our Wellbeing Coordinator, Chris. The food brought residents, staff, and relatives together for a day full of laughter, stories, and shared joy.

One staff member said it best: “Better than any restaurant — I’m still full!” 😄

At Mellish, we’re proud to celebrate the diverse cultures that make our community so special. Here’s to many more celebrations like this! 🌍✨

🌿🐦 Are You Birdwatch Ready? 🐦🌿

The countdown is on for this year’s Big Garden Birdwatch, taking place from 23rd–25th January 2026 — and our residents are more than ready!

They’ve been busy crafting homemade bird feeders to welcome feathered friends into their garden spaces. It’s been a joyful time filled with creativity, laughter, and fond memories of birdwatching over the years. 🧡

Taking part in the Birdwatch not only brings us closer to nature, but also helps the RSPB track how our beloved bird species are doing across the UK.

📍 Whether you’re watching from your garden, balcony, or local park — we’d love to see how you get involved! Share your birdwatching moments with us 🐤📸

Are you ready to spot, count, and connect with nature? Let’s do this together!

🐾 Welcome Back, Rhubarb & Custard! 🐾

We kicked off the New Year with a heartwarming visit from our favourite furry friends, Rhubarb and Custard! Their return for the day brought smiles, cuddles, and plenty of “oohs” and “ahhs” from our residents.

A huge thank you to our wonderful wellbeing team member, Claire, for her amazing care and dedication. It’s clear these two are very loved!

Here’s to more joyful moments in 2026! 💛🐰

🎄✨ Festive Reflections & A New Year of High Tea ✨🎄

In December 2025, our residents at Mellish were treated to a magical experience, our Festive High Tea Afternoons, held every week on Wednesday throughout the month. From spiced mince pies and gingerbread delights to indulgent white and milk chocolate yule logs garnished with fresh orange fruits, each treat was crafted with love and flair by our talented head chef. The joy, laughter, and shared moments made it a December to remember! 💫

As we have stepped into the new year, we’re thrilled to continue the Monthly High Tea, now taking place every 1st Wednesday of the month at 3pm. Whether you're a returning guest or joining us for the first time, we warmly welcome you to share in the charm, conversation, and deliciousness.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us last year, your presence helped create cherished memories. Here's to many more in 2026! 🫖🍰
