☀️ Happy Bank Holiday everyone! We hope you’re all enjoying the sunshine and that your lovely dogs are keeping cool in this hot weather 🐶💦

As you may have seen, tomorrow’s temperatures are set to reach highs of 34°C. Because of this, we’ve made the decision to cancel tomorrow afternoon and evening sessions. Those still attending we ask you not to arrive too early to avoid dogs waiting in cars.

While the water itself may help keep the dogs cool, asking them to exercise, raise their heart rates, and then head back out into such extreme heat just doesn’t sit right with us. Some dogs’ conditions can worsen in hot weather and, with how excited all the dogs get coming to see us, we simply don’t feel the risk is worth taking tomorrow.

We’re really sorry for any inconvenience, but the dogs will ALWAYS come first ❤️

We’ve already contacted everyone affected and have offered alternative appointments later in the week when temperatures are due to be cooler. We know you’ll all understand and support us in putting the dogs’ safety first 🐾

Looking ahead through the summer, we’ll also be offering extra early morning appointments to help accommodate during the hotter days. If you’re an early bird like us, let us know and we can get you booked into those slots! 🌅🐕

SWIMMER OF THE WEEK🐾💙

This week the swimmer of the week is…Hugo!🤩 Hugo has been attending regular hydrotherapy sessions to help manage his osteoarthritis, and he truly is a superstar in the pool! 💦🐾

Due to how advanced his osteoarthritis is, Hugo finds walking quite difficult. However, once he’s in our hydro pool, he absolutely excels, it’s clear just how much he loves swimming! Being in the water gives Hugo the chance to exercise comfortably without placing extra strain on his joints, which is so important for his mobility and wellbeing.

Hugo also suffers from Cushing’s disease, a condition where the adrenal gland overproduces cortisol. This can make managing his weight a little more challenging, so having time in the pool to burn off some calories in a safe and enjoyable way is incredibly beneficial for him. 🩵

Hugo, you are an absolute delight to have here at Aqua Paws, and we are so happy to see how much you benefit from your hydrotherapy sessions. Keep up the amazing work, superstar! ⭐🐶

☀️ As the weather brightens up, we’ve noticed lots of fun swim pools opening their doors and that’s lovely to see! But please don’t forget about your local hydrotherapy specialists ☀️

We are a CHA (Canine Hydrotherapy Association) registered hydrotherapy centre, dedicated to providing safe, professional and effective care for your dogs 💙

✔️ Fully qualified hydrotherapists
✔️ First aid trained
✔️ Minimum of 25 hours CPD completed every year

Your dog’s safety and wellbeing is always our top priority:
💧 Our water is tested twice daily (and three times on busy days!)
🧪 Monthly samples are sent to a lab to ensure the highest standards
🌡️ Our pool and underwater treadmill are heated between 28 - 30°C

Did you know? Water temperature is incredibly important, anything lower can cause cramping, particularly for dogs suffering with arthritis. It’s not just about swimming, it’s about safe, therapeutic care.

At Aqua Paws, every dog is treated as the special individual they are 💙 We specialise in supporting dogs with health conditions such as arthritis, while also offering fun and fitness swims for water loving pups who simply enjoy being in the water!

While the hydrotherapy industry is sadly unregulated, we believe in educating and advocating for safe swimming practices. Seeing dogs with medical needs in unqualified settings can sometimes do more harm than good and that’s something we’re passionate about changing.

If you think your dog could benefit from hydrotherapy, whether for rehabilitation or fun and fitness, we’re here to help. Feel free to get in touch to chat about how we can support your dog 💙

Meet very sweet Honey 🧡🍯

Honey comes to us for support with her hind limbs and when she first started she was very unsure about the water. Now she gives us a little happy dance every time she hears the treadmill buttons getting ready to start, which never fails to make us and her lovely family laugh 🐾

We are so proud of you Honey, you are an absolute joy to spend time with 🧡

SWIMMER OF THE WEEK 🐾💙

This week’s swimmer of the week is the gorgeous Candy 🧡

Candy is in her golden years, although you certainly wouldn’t know it! Earlier this year she underwent double hip surgery and has been coming to us for support strengthening her hind limbs, improving her stability and balance and rebuilding her confidence moving about.

She has taken therapy completely in her stride and has made truly remarkable progress. When we first met her, she was unable to support herself unassisted, but through her hard work here at Aqua Paws and the dedication of her lovely mum and dad, she is like a whole new woman ✨

Candy now walks into most of her appointments almost completely unassisted and loves nothing more than cuddles and cheese 🧀. We are all so incredibly proud of her and it has been amazing watching her progress week by week. Well done lovely girl ❤️

SWIMMER OF THE WEEK 🐾💙

This week’s swimmer of the week is Winston! Winston has been coming to us for support following an IVDD diagnosis and his progress has been nothing short of incredible. When he first started, he was dragging his hind limbs but now he’s walking independently with so much more strength and confidence. Watching him come in on his own four paws is so special to see ✨

He gives his all in every single session and is always eager to get started, especially with the help of the tasty snacks his lovely parents bring for him each week.

Winston brings a smile to all of our faces week after week and we couldn’t be prouder of how far he’s come. Keep up the amazing work Winston! 💙

Say hello to Ernie! This lovely little man comes to us for support following surgery on his knee and he does amazingly well. He’s now a little pocket rocket in the pool! ✨

As you can tell from his face, he absolutely adores coming in and we can hear his arrival a mile down the road with all that excitement! 💙

SWIMMER OF THE WEEK🐾💙

This week’s swimmer of the week is the lovely Luna.

Luna originally came to us to help strengthen her hind limbs ahead of surgery on her left knee. She has now been with us for almost a year and is truly like a different dog, now able to enjoy all the things she loves again. Her progress both before and after surgery has been incredible, building strength and muscle mass and showing just how powerful prehab and rehab can be! ❤️‍🩹

She is a real cuddle bug and especially loves her warm shower and bubbles after each session 🫧

We are so proud of you, Luna and we are so happy to see you enjoying all your favourite things again 💙
