💙 Yesterday, we were delighted to welcome Heather from Burwood Grange to Acacia Homecare! It was wonderful to reconnect after our last visit, where Donna (our Care Manager) and Dee (our Customer Care Lead & Dementia Friends Ambassador) led a Dementia Information Session for their residents and families.

We’ve now been invited to their upcoming Winter Warmer Evening – a cosy celebration with homemade soup from their chef, artisan bread from a local bakery, live music, hot chocolate and a fun Autumnal Quiz.

At Acacia Homecare, partnerships like these are so important to us. They allow us to share knowledge, strengthen our community ties and ensure families have access to meaningful support both inside and outside the home.

Congratulations to Bethany on completing the Health and Wellbeing Champions programme and becoming our latest Wellbeing Champion at Acacia Homecare!

Bethany, who is an Admin and Rota Planner at Acacia Homecare joins Di (our Recruitment Lead) as our Wellbeing Champion. Their role as Wellbeing Champions is to ensure that our carers feel heard, supported and valued. They will conduct weekly check-ins, proactively reach out to carers to see how they are doing and provide a space for open reflection and support.

Yesterday, we held another of our free Online Dementia Information Sessions led by Dee, Dementia Friends Ambassador and Customer Care Lead at Acacia Homecare.

These sessions are designed for anyone supporting someone experiencing memory loss, whether you’re a caregiver, a family member or a healthcare professional.

This month’s session was incredibly insightful, with attendees finding it both practical and reassuring. We explored why people with Dementia may behave in certain ways, how to better understand memory loss, a real-life case study and practical strategies for supporting a loved one at different stages of Dementia.

It's often the small things that make the biggest difference, a gentle touch, sitting quietly together, sharing a smile or listening even when words are hard to find. These moments matter, not just for the person living with Dementia, but for us too. 💙
