These photos are llama-zing! 🦙

Residents at Archers Court Care Home enjoyed a special visit from iconic alpaca duo, Sassy and Liv, from Anvil Alpacas of Durham. The pair herded colleagues and residents alike as they trotted around the home, much to the resident's shear delight!

Cold outside? No prob-llama - Sassy and Liv were more than happy to roam indoors, too, which allowed even more residents to enjoy the special event. It looked like everyone had a woolly good day! What an alpaca-tastic experience for our wool-der-ful residents 🤩

If everyday is like this at our Sunderland care home, we're alpaca-ing our bags and moving up North!

That's right, Millfield Nursing Home is Veteran Friendly Framework accredited! The initiative, started by Royal British Legion, Royal Star & Garter and the Veterans Covenant Healthcare Alliance, is set out to improve the standard of care provided for veterans living across care homes in England.

Home Manager, Karen, told us: “This is something very close to our hearts here at Millfield. My grandparents fought in the war, and several of my relatives are in the RAF too, and many of the team have similar links to the military in their family. We also have residents who held various duties during the war, as well as spouses of veterans.” 💫

Sarah's brave shave 💇‍♀️💫

Sarah Golden-Hill, Home Manager of Castleford Lodge Nursing Home recently shaved her head for charity, raising around £700 for Cancer Research UK!

Sarah told us: "Cancer affects so many of us, and its impact is devastating. One of our colleagues has recently been diagnosed with cancer, so it feels even more meaningful to shave my head for CRUK.” 💌

The task of shaving Sarah's head fell to her wife Jackie, who was a natural with the clippers. Everyone celebrated with karaoke, dancing and plenty of cheering and applause!

Stop your scrolling and say 'Hello' to these cute fur babies! 🐇

The team at Riverdale Care Home are always planning immersive, engaging activities for residents to enjoy, but one specific type of visit is always a hit - the animal ones 🥹

A recent visit from Four Paws Animal Assisted Therapy introduced the residents to the sweetest rabbits (such as Coco) as well as guinea pig Murphy! One resident in particular, Anita, told us: "I loved meeting the animals and would like to see them again soon."

We can't wait to see what the activities team have in store for next time!

Inspected just last week, the kitchen team at Riverdale has been rated highly for their food handling, hygiene, cleanliness and management of food safety. It's a fantastic achievement and yet another example of their exceptional levels of care!

Wow - where do we begin? If you've ever visited a loved one at Ashlea Lodge, you'll have more than likely met the wonderful Cathy and seen her genuine passion for elderly care ❤️

Known for her kindness, humour, and dancing feet, Cathy brings joy to residents, families, and our colleagues every day. We are truly honoured to have Cathy on our team and even more so as she will be celebrating her 70th birthday with us next year!

Happy 15-year workiversary, Cathy - we couldn't imagine the home without you 🥹🥰
