What to do when someone passes away at home
Losing a loved one is never easy, and in those first few moments, it can be hard to know what to do. If someone passes away at home, here’s what needs to happen:
If the death was expected
Contact the person’s GP, on-call doctor or the District Nurse. They will visit and confirm the death.
If the death was unexpected
You should call emergency services (999). The police and paramedics will attend, and the coroner may become involved to establish the cause of death.
Once the doctor or coroner has given permission, you can contact your chosen funeral director.
At T&G Direct Funeral Services Ltd, we’re available 24 hours a day to bring your loved one into our care and guide you through what comes next.
You don’t have to go through it alone — compassionate support and clear guidance are just a call away.
