Getting your child ready for school is a shared journey—what you do at home, combined with the support they receive in childcare and early years education, all contributes to their readiness.

Whether it’s talking, reading, or encouraging independence through everyday tasks like getting dressed or tidying up, these small daily interactions help your child develop confidence, curiosity, and the essential skills they’ll carry with them into Reception and beyond.

Your child’s safety is top priority. As the mornings and evenings grow darker, we’ve become increasingly concerned about visibility. Children wearing dark clothing—especially jackets—can be very hard for drivers to see, which poses a serious risk.

To help keep everyone safe, we strongly encourage parents to choose brighter outerwear for their children, or add reflective items like bag tags, jacket strips, or even a small torch.

Here’s a photo that clearly shows how invisible dark clothing can be in low light.

Let’s work together to keep our children safe. Be Bright. Be Seen. Be Safe.
