Fulwell Chiropractic We love to help people lead active and fulfilling lives. Welcome to our page. We do this by delivering gentle and effective chiropractic care to:
1.

Here at Fulwell Chiropractic we have been providing chiropractic care to the people of Sunderland and surrounding areas since 2001. Our purpose at Fulwell Chiropractic is to help people to lead active and fulfilling lives. Relieve your pain
2. Improve your body's healing
3. Help you to be and do your best

The cost of the assessment (first visit) including your first adjustment (if appropriate) is £50. Subsequent visits are priced at £34. Your care will be frequent for the first 1 - 6 weeks. Most people will respond favourably between 4-6 visits to the practice. By this time your body is beginning to heal and symptoms are less. Rating scales/outcome assessment forms are filled in on your initial visit to the practice and again a few weeks later. This helps both you and the practice staff monitor and evaluate your progress. You may choose to leave care at this time as you feel better however you may benefit from more care, as the healing process is not quite complete. This will be discussed with you as necessary. How long you would like to benefit from chiropractic care is up to you. Once you are feeling better we do offer a special rate if you would like regular care. Please discuss this with the clinic staff when you contact us.

Your body is constantly working for you: repairing, adapting, and regulating without you even thinking about it. Think about something as simple as a cut on your finger. You don’t have to consciously tell your body to heal it. Within seconds, clotting begins. Over the next few days, new tissue forms. Weeks later, the skin remodels - often leaving little to no trace.

In chiropractic, we often refer to this as “innate intelligence” (the body’s inborn ability to self-regulate and heal). Our focus at Fulwell Chiropractic is on supporting the nervous system and spinal function so that communication between the brain and body is as clear and efficient as possible.

Remember, we don’t heal you - your body does. Our role is to help remove interference so your natural healing potential can express itself at its best.

We'd love it if patients old and new could come and join us throughout the afternoon for a cuppa and some cake.

You can say farewell and wish Karen all the very best in her future career.

Self Care! 😊

Stress is something we all face at various points in our lives. It’s a natural response to pressure - whether it’s related to work, personal matters, or other life demands.

If you're feeling overwhelmed, there are several effective ways to ease the effects of stress and find some calm:

1 – Be Active
Physical activity, whether it's a brisk walk or lifting weights, can be a powerful distraction from stressful thoughts. While exercise may not eliminate the source of your stress, it can help clear your mind and promote relaxation.

2 – Take Control
Being told to “take control” might sound simple, but it’s often key to reducing stress. Feeling powerless is a major contributor to stress. By taking small, proactive steps - like speaking to someone about your situation or tackling manageable tasks - you can start to feel more in charge and less overwhelmed.

3 – Connect
Talking with friends, family, or colleagues can provide emotional support, offer new perspectives, and help reduce feelings of isolation and stress.

4 – Have Some Me Time
Taking time to do the things you enjoy is essential. Long work hours and constant responsibilities often leave little room for self-care, which only adds to stress. Prioritize activities that bring you joy and peace.

5 – Avoid Bad Habits
We all have our go-to habits when under stress, but not all of them are healthy. Substances like alcohol, caffeine, and ni****ne may offer temporary relief but tend to worsen stress over time. Healthier alternatives are more effective for long-term wellbeing.

Stress doesn’t just affect your mood, it literally changes how strong your immune system is 🧠🦠

When stress becomes chronic, your brain shifts your body into “survival mode,” releasing stress hormones that turn down immune function so it can focus on immediate threats instead of long-term healing.
That’s why ongoing stress = more colds, slower recovery, and higher inflammation over time.

The good news?
You can actively strengthen your immune system by calming your nervous system.
Try these evidence based methods:

🧠 Mind-body practices: Meditation, mindfulness, deep breathing, yoga - all shown to reduce cortisol and inflammation markers.

🧠 Prioritise good sleep: Healthy sleep helps reset HPA axis activity and supports immune regulation. Chronic sleep disruption worsens stress-induced immune dysfunction.

🧠 Regular movement & posture care: Regular exercise and posture/spinal care can help regulate nervous system tone, reduce stress response, and support overall immune-nervous coordination.

🧠 Balanced diet & hydration: Nutrient-rich, whole foods and regular hydration - help support both immune cell function and hormonal balance.

🧠 Chiropractic care: because it focuses on restoring spinal motion and reducing nervous system stress, recent reserarch suggests this can help support more balanced immune responses.

Improved resilience to stress = stronger immune system!
