At the next local government elections in Sunderland on Thursday 7 May 2026, ward boundaries are changing.

This follows a review by the independent Local Government Boundary Commission for England completed in 2025, which recommended new ward boundaries and ward names that were then approved by Parliament.

This may affect:
• Your ward boundary or ward name
• Your polling station location

Each of the 25 new wards will be represented by three councillors, so, for this first election under the new boundaries on Thursday 7 May 2026, all three seats in your ward will be up for election.
