Sunderland City Council is asking residents their priorities on community safety ahead of launching a new way of working. Teams in Pennywell, Hendon, Southwick, Concord and Sulgrave, and Hetton and Easington Lane will work with residents to make their area a better place to live.

If you live in one of the areas listed, we want to know:

Sunderland Sports Fund is back!

After a pause during the pandemic, a much-loved local charity supporting young athletes and athletes with disabilities has been revived – thanks to new funding from the Martin Laing Foundation and Sunderland City Council.

From coaching costs to travel and equipment, the fund helps remove barriers so Sunderland’s sporting talent can thrive. And with new investment, it’s now also supporting local coaches to inspire even more people to get into sport. 🙌

Over 670 grants have already been awarded across sports like swimming, boxing, basketball and skiing — and now you could be next.
