Tonight, we’ll be learning a gentle meditation designed to calm your central nervous system and bring balance back to your mind and body.

In this session, we’ll explore how to develop a consistent meditation routine that sticks, focusing on practical tips and gentle guidance. We’ll start with a brief introduction and an easy stretch to get comfortable.

This week’s practice will include:
✨ A guided session on Seven Point Posture meditation, where we’ll focus on breathing and attention on seven key points of the body, legs, back, arms, hands, neck, jaw, and eyes, using counting to deepen focus.
✨ An introduction to Walking Meditation, a mindful movement practice perfect for those who find sitting still challenging. We’ll concentrate on the journey, not the destination, embracing movement as a form of meditation.

Key topics we’ll cover:
How long it takes to form a new habit (roughly 21 days or more!)
The importance of consistency and sticking with a meditation style that works for you—whether it’s the same every day or varied to stay motivated
Different styles of meditation: mindfulness, concentration, insight, and movement
Tips to avoid self-criticism and embrace meditation as a lifelong practice
The subtle, gradual benefits that come with regular practice—sometimes noticed by others before you realise it yourself

We’ll conclude with an opportunity to share experiences, ask questions, and set a weekly challenge. Making a verbal commitment helps build accountability and keeps us on track.

Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned meditator, this session is a wonderful chance to deepen your practice and make meditation a joyful, healthy habit.

This Thursday at 6:30 PM, the focus of the class is on building meditation into a sustainable daily habit. The session is part of July’s theme: “Making Meditation a Healthy Habit”, and is designed to help you integrate meditation into everyday life in a simple, realistic, and rewarding way.

You’ll begin with a 3-minute gentle seated stretch to release tension, improve posture, and calm the mind. This physical preparation supports the deeper work of meditation by grounding the body and inviting a sense of ease. From there, the session will explore why forming a habit of meditation matters, not just for relaxation, but for cultivating mental clarity, emotional resilience, and deeper self-awareness.

Practical strategies for habit-building will be shared, such as starting small (even just two minutes a day), using the RPM method (Rise, P*e, Meditate), and leveraging tools like meditation timers and apps. You’ll also be introduced to the Qi Clock, a traditional Chinese Medicine concept that maps the body’s energy rhythms and can be used to align your meditation practice with your natural flow.

Two key practices will be explored: the 7-Point Meditation Posture, a foundational body-based method for supporting deep awareness, and "Naming a Thought", a technique from Burmese mindfulness traditions that helps bring clarity to mental activity by gently labeling thoughts in time with the breath. 2018 A Joy Full Year.

I can’t believe April is here what an amazing year it has been so far.

I opened Joy Therapy Centre in Harrogate in January 2018. We run weekly Yoga, Meditation, Hypnotherapy and EFT stress relief groups. We have wonderful workshops and training courses, Reiki, Yoga, Meditation, to mention just a few. Over the next few months, we will be bringing meditation leaders training. Our meditation course is accredited to the CMA and enables you to teach meditation in your community. We also offer supervision for practitioners and therapists. We would love you to join us, and become a part of our Joy wellness community.
