🧠 What is a Stroke — and Why Acting Fast Saves Lives 🧠

A stroke happens when blood flow to part of the brain is blocked — causing brain cells to start dying. It’s a medical emergency that requires immediate treatment to reduce permanent damage.

There’s also a mini-stroke called a Transient Ischaemic Attack (TIA) — a brief blockage that’s a warning sign for a full stroke. Even if symptoms improve, get medical help right away.

Most strokes are ischemic (about 87%), caused by blood clots blocking vessels. The key treatment? A medicine called tPA, which breaks up clots — but it works best if given within 3 to 4.5 hours of symptoms.
