Another of the many exercises we include in a Paracise™ class.
Sun Up, Sun Down.
This gentle, flowing movement stretches and mobilises the whole body while encouraging calm, steady breathing.
Stand tall with your feet hip-width apart.
As you breathe in, slowly lift your arms up towards the ceiling, reaching comfortably overhead. Allow your body to lengthen, staying relaxed through the neck and shoulders.
As you breathe out, soften your knees and gently fold down, letting your arms swing down naturally as your body lowers. Move only as far as feels comfortable — this is not about depth, but ease and control.
Pause for a moment, then slowly return to standing and repeat.
Why this movement helps:
Encourages mobility through the shoulders, spine, hips, knees, and ankles
Gently stretches the upper body and back, supporting posture
Helps maintain joint health through natural, everyday movement patterns
Improves circulation by moving the arms above and below heart level
Builds balance and body awareness
Creates a calming rhythm when paired with slow, relaxed breathing
Move slowly, stay relaxed, and let your breath guide the pace. Even a few repetitions can help your body feel more open, mobile, and grounded.
