Been experiencing pain at the back of your heel Or Perhaps you've been told that you have Archilles' Tendonitis

The Achilles' tendon is a strong fibrous cord that connects the muscles in the back of your calf to your heel bone. The Achilles tendon is able to withstand massive amounts of pressure and stress we get from walking, running and jumping. However it can only take so much - especially when it's strained and swollen after all the things we have done throughout the day.

Achilles tendinitis, inflammation of the Archilles tendon, is usually the result of strenuous, high impact exercise, such as running. If you overstretch a already strained and swollen Achilles tendon, it can tear (rupture) completely or just partially. Achilles tendon rupture mainly occurs in people playing recreational sports, but it can happen to anyone.

If your Achilles tendon ruptures, you might hear a pop, followed by an immediate sharp pain in the back of your ankle and lower leg that is likely to affect your ability to walk properly. Surgery is often performed to repair the rupture. However, for many people who choose not to have surgery, Physiotherapy is very effective in rehabilitating an Archilles Tendon Rupture.

Prevention is always better than cure! So if you are experiencing pain and discomfort in your Archilles tendon, get top if it today, Ring Vital Physiotherapy on 07896419167 or DM us and find out how we can help you overcome your heel pain and get back to active pain free living!

Been told that you have a frozen ❄️shoulder😳
Unable to function properly because of your shoulder🥴
Been told to just put up with your stiff shoulder as there is no fix😳
❄️Frozen shoulder is a term commonly misused by health professionals for shoulders that become stiff and painful. The greatest problem with misdiagnosing a painful stiff shoulder 😖as a frozen shoulder is that patients are commonly told that there is nothing that can be done for a frozen ❄️ shoulder to fix it, and so they must just put up with the pain and stiffness. 😰
It is important to know that in reality not all stiff and painful shoulders 🙅‍♀️are "frozen shoulders" and that there is no hope left for your stiff painful shoulder.
Here at Vital Physiotherapy, our Expert Physiotherapists 🤓 using a 3 Step Pain Free Shoulder Assessment, often find that many "frozen ❄️shoulders" are misdiagnosed painful stiff shoulders that are only a grumpy rotator cuff muscle problem that is causing a stiff and painful shoulder.
The Great News 🥳 is that a grumpy rotator cuff muscle problem can be effectively treated and improvements can be made within the first treatment session!💪 This is where an Expert Physiotherapist's 🤓experienced assessment and diagnosing skills is key to successful outcomes and patient education.
In the case of a true frozen shoulder, research indicates that there is limited effective treatment to overcome a frozen ❄️ shoulder!🥴 However, research show that within the first 3 months of a frozen ❄️shoulder, the right treatment can lead to decreased shoulder pain and stiffness, and increased shoulder range of movement.💪 This in turn, results in an improved quality of life for a patient because they can now function better and participate painfree at work, in their social life and activities of daily living. 🤗
So if you are struggling with a recent stiff and painful 😖shoulder or if you want a second opinion of your "frozen❄️ shoulder", ring Vital Physiotherapy📱on 07896419167or DM us to speak to one of our expert physiotherapists 🤓today!

Did you grow up hearing your mum 👩‍🦱tell you to sit up straight 🥴or stop slouching and stand up tall 🕴

Turns out maintaining an upright posture 🧘‍♀️touches almost every aspect of our lives, from our appearance, health, productivity and even our mood 😊. We all know maintaining good posture is important, but why?

1. Posture = Power 💪
Across species, posture is often the primary representation of power. People with high power poses have increased feelings of dominance, risk-taking, and power as well as reduced anxiety.

2. Say goodbye to back 😳 pain
Good posture is critical to reducing back and neck 😳 pain. Slouching can add strain to muscles and put stress on the spine.

3. Look good and feel confident 😁
Needless to say, being upright does wonders for your appearance. You look taller, slimmer and more successful when you sit and stand tall. It is imperative to making a good first impression.🚀🚀🚀

4. Breathe Better
Keeping an upright posture 🧘‍♀️helps open up the airways and ensure proper breathing. This allows more oxygen to flow through the cardiopulmonary system.❤️

5. Be more productive
Sitting upright makes you more alert, concentrated, and productive. The reason is that when you slouch, your body takes in as much as 30% less oxygen than you'd take in with good posture.🤔

If you would love to overcome your back pain and improve your posture, ring Vital Physiotherapy📱today on 07896419167 to book an appointment with one of our Expert Physiotherapists 🤓today! Our Expert Physiotherapists love to help you live a strong, confident, active pain free life today!

Wondering what is that colorful Tape that you see sports people put on their body🤔
Kinesio Taping is a rehabilitative taping technique that is designed to assist the body’s natural healing process while providing support and stability to muscles💪 and joints without restricting the body’s normal movement. In the case of the shoulder joint, Kinesio Taping used as part of the Physiotherapy treatment, provides support to the shoulder joint without limiting your shoulder movements. In addition, Kinesio Taping when applied correctly to the shoulder joint lifts the skin to allow increased blood flow around the shoulder joint to clear the inflammatory cells in the joint which promotes faster healing and reduces swelling and pain. 🚀🚀🚀
The key to great outcomes with Kinesio Taping is the correct application of Kinesio Tape. 🧐To achieve this, it is important to have your dysfunction and pain correctly assessed and the cause of your pain accurately diagnosed so that the right treatment techniques are used to help you overcome your dysfunction! 🤗

Been working out with power bands or therabands around your knees
Love to know what’s the best exercise to strengthen your hips
Been told by personal trainers and physiotherapists that you have weak hip muscles

In a study done by Lewis et al. Journal of athletic training 2019, the study looked at hip muscle activity during resisted side stepping. They got participants performing side stepping with the resistance band in one of the 3 positions. Around the knees, ankle and feet.

The study found that placing the band around the feet produced the most activation in the gluteal muscle improving the therapeutic goal of increasing muscle tone and strength in the hip muscles.

So next time you are thinking about increasing strength of your hip muscles using resistance bands place them around your feet and perform side stepping and banded movements!

Shin Splints stopping you in your tracks 😳 Frustrated that you can't give your best performance on the field ⚽️ because of shin splints

Shin splints are a common exercise-related problem. 🏃‍♂️Shin splints also known as Medial Tibial Stress Syndrome is an inflammation of the muscles, and bone tissue around your tibia (shin bone). Pain 😳typically occurs along the inside border of the shin bone where muscles attach to the bone

Runners 🏃‍♂️ 🏃‍♀️ are at highest risk for developing shin splints. However, dancers 💃🏼 and military recruits also commonly experience shin pain. 😳 Shin splint pain is often described as sharp and razor-like or dull and throbbing in the front of the shin bone. Shin splints can come on both during and after exercise 😖

In general, shin splints develop when the muscle and bone tissue in the leg become overworked 😓by repetitive activity. Shin splints often occur after sudden changes in physical activity such as, increasing the number of days you exercise each week or rapidly increasing the intensity of exercise.

Other factors that contribute to shin splints include:
(1) Having flat feet or abnormally rigid arches and
(2) Exercising with improper or worn-out footwear👟.

We often see this problem in athletes or those that are new to sports – but don't worry, shin pain doesn't always mean you have shin splints. If you're experiencing shin😖 pain it's important to be properly diagnosed and treated by an Expert Physiotherapist ASAP to avoid further injury and get you back in action. 🏃‍♂️

Sprained your ankle and wondering why it's taking so long to heal🤔
Did you know that there are 3 Grades of Ankle Sprains 🤔

Ankle Sprains are graded based on how much damage has occurred to the ankle ligaments. And different Grades of Ankle Sprains will have different rates of recovery and will require different treatment strategies. 🧐

In Grade 1 Ankle Sprains the ankle ligaments are slightly stretched and there is microscopic tearing of the ankle ligament fibres with mild tenderness and swelling around the ankle. This type of ankle sprains are most common and most people will report that they twisted their ankle missing a step but did not fall over. However, repeated mild ankle sprains can lead to Grade 2 Ankle Sprains.😳

In Grade 2 Ankle Sprains, there is partial tearing of the ankle ligaments, moderate tenderness and swelling around the ankle. There is often bruising around the ankle too. In Grade 2 Ankle Sprains, people will report that they twisted on their ankle, fell over and was unable to stand up 😫on their foot immediately after the fall. Usually they will require a walking boot or crutches to walk on their sprained ankle.

In Grade 3 Ankle Sprains, there is a complete tear of the ankle ligament, significant tenderness and swelling around the ankle. There will be significant bruising around the ankle and down the foot. Often there is also an associated ankle bone fracture and the pain is severe requiring a visit to the Emergency Department. 😳

Ankle sprains can take 6weeks to 6months 🕰 to recover depending on the severity of the ankle injury. Early intervention and having the right diagnosis is the key 🔑 to successful rehabilitation of ankle sprains. When poorly treated or left untreated, mild ankle sprains can result in long term ankle instability and pain.

The most common mistake we see here at Vital Physiotherapy, is people coming in months after an initial ankle sprain and complaining of loss of ankle movements, ongoing pain and repeated ankle sprains. 😳Don't let that be your journey too! Ring Vital Physiotherapy 📱on 07896419167 to find out how our Expert Physiotherapists 🤓can help you overcome your ankle sprain today!

🥴Are you experiencing shoulder pain that sits on the front of your shoulder and shoots down into your arm?
🤔 Do you wonder what can you do at home to reduce that shoulder and prevent it?
Shoulder pain affects almost a quarter of people in the UK community, with a significant detrimental impact on health-related quality of life and physical functioning.😬 There are a multiple causes for shoulder pain, including rotator cuff injuries, frozen shoulder, arthritis, biceps tendinitis, shoulder dislocations and fractures.
One of the most common mistake people make with their shoulder pain is that the initial signs of shoulder pain are either ignored or incorrectly managed, aggravating their shoulder condition. Often times, people tend to ignore their shoulder pain until it starts to impact their function, where they are unable to lift their arm up higher than shoulder height to comb their hair or to dress themselves easily. 😣
The key to overcoming shoulder pain lies in having the correct diagnosis for your shoulder pain in order to have the correct treatment for your specific shoulder pain. However, prevention is always better than cure. So, here are 3 Key Strategies that you can implement at home to help reduce your shoulder pain
🔑1. Ice your shoulder to reduce the inflammation and swelling that is occurring around the biceps tendons at the front of your shoulder. Do not use heat packs, as they cause more swelling and inflammation.
🔑2.Stretch your shoulder muscles regularly, especially the pectoral muscles on the front of chest that inserts into the front of your shoulder. A great pectoral muscle stretch is placing both arms along a door frame in a "hands up" pose and leaning forward through the doorway.
🔑3. Strengthen the muscles on the back of your shoulders, so that your shoulder blades remain flat against your back placing your shoulder joint into a neutral alignment. A great exercise is using a exercise band for shoulder retraction exercises.

Are you suffering with sharp pains in your calf muscles 🦵
Been told you’ve got a calf strain 🧐

A calf strain is an injury involving one or more of the calf muscles and causes pain at the back of the lower leg.🦵

Calf strains are commonly seen in running sports such as ⚽️ football , 🏈rugby, netball and 🏀 basketball. Calf strains often occur when attempting to accelerate from a stationary position, or when jumping or lunging forward. The calf muscles 🦵can also be injured as a result of overuse. Patients can feel various symptoms when injured with a calf strain. The most common symptoms of a calf strain are:.
-Sudden sharp pain or stabbing sensation at the back of the lower leg 🧐
-The feeling as if you have been hit in the back of the leg🦵
-You may hear an audible pop 🥴
-The calf muscle will be tender to touch
-Swelling or bruising may occur depending on the severity of the calf strain 😳
-Inability to weight bear on the affected leg in severe calf strains

Have you been told by your doctor👨‍⚕️ to exercise and lose weight to help your knee pain 😬
But Is your knee 😳pain stopping you from exercising to lose weight to help your knee pain 🤦‍♀️

If that sounds like you, then rest assured, you are not alone! At Vital Physiotherapy, our Expert Physiotherapists🤓 see many Knee Pain 😣Sufferers who tell us exactly the same story. They have knee pain which stopped them from being active and so they gain weight which aggravated their knee pain. Their doctor 👨‍⚕️says exercise and your knee pain will improve but they can’t exercise because of knee pain. It’s a chicken and egg scenario.

The first thing to do is to break 🙅‍♂️the cycle of knee pain and weight gain by having your knee pain correctly assessed by an Expert Physiotherapist 🤓who will then design an individualised treatment for your knee pain. In the first stage of treatment, our Expert Physiotherapist will help you address the swelling, muscle 🦵tightness and inflammation that is in the knee so that you get pain free and more movement in your knee.

In the second stage of treatment, our Expert Physiotherapist will guide you on an exercise program to help you regain function in your daily living. In this stage, cycling 🚴‍♂️on a stationary recline bicycle is a great option for many Knee Pain Sufferers. Cycling is a low-impact exercise which limits impact stress on your hips, knees, and feet. Plus, the movement helps lubricate the joints, which reduces pain and stiffness. Cycling also helps with weight control and improves your cardiovascular fitness.🚀🚀🚀

In the third stage of treatment, our Expert Physiotherapists 🤓will guide you towards strengthening and peak performance program to help you achieve the active lifestyle that you may have been missing out due to your knee pain. In this stage, the exercises become more focused on building strength and fitness while preventing aggravation of your knee😣 pain.

If you have been putting up with 😳knee pain and caught in the exercise - pain cycle, ring Vital Physiotherapy on 07896419167 to speak to one of our Expert Physiotherapists to find out how we can help you overcome your Knee Pain today !

Do you wonder Why are you getting so much ache in your neck and shoulder when working at home? Are you constantly putting up with a stiff neck 😳
Do you find the pain gets worst as the day goes 😣It just does not go 🤕
Have you tried getting regular massages or using massage gun with limited or no relief 🤷‍♀️for your neck and shoulder pain

If you answered yes, to the above statements, then the cause of your neck pain & stiffness is due to your poor working posture working from home.🤔

Neck joint stiffness often occurs because of poor posture in sitting, lying and standing. Spending several hours at a time in front of the computer 🖥 at your dining room table or sofa is one of the major causes of neck pain and stiffness. For many women who have long hair that is pulled up into a bun at the back of their heads, driving 🚗is another major cause for neck joint stiffness because they are forced to sit upright with their mid back to their shoulders not leaning against the car seat due to their hair bun.

Over time, the neck joint stiffness leads to neck muscle tightness and imbalance, which results in neck and shoulder pain as well as headaches 🤕and migraines for some people. This is why regular massages, hear packs and hot baths 🛁 tend to only provide minimal relief for neck pain, stiffness and headaches as these techniques do not directly treat the neck joint dysfunction.

The Good News 🎉is your underlying neck joint dysfunction that is causing your neck pain, stiffness and headaches can be effectively treated and resolved! Here at Vital Physiotherapy, our Expert Physiotherapists 🤓are trained to specifically assess and treat neck joint dysfunction to help you overcome your neck pain, stiffness and headaches! 🤕

So if you are sick of putting up with neck pain, stiffness, headaches and migraines, ring to Vital Physiotherapy on 07896419167 to book an appointment with one of our Expert Physiotherapists today! Let us help you get rid of your neck pain and return to active pain free living! 🤗
