We have some absolutely brilliant news to share with you all. We're so honoured that Age UK Birmingham have chosen Marian House to be the new home for their Dementia Café. This is a great opportunity for us to offer a truly welcoming, supportive hub for our community—people living with dementia, their carers, and their loved ones.

The first meeting will be on the 13th November. Feel free to share the news with anyone you feel may be interested. If you would like anymore information, please let us know and we will put you in touch with Age UK or you can contact dementia.cafes@ageukbirmingham.org.uk

Pizza and good times!

All smiles for our Tea Time Pizza Party last night. Everyone loved getting to pick and prepare their own toppings, we had Ham, Pineapple, Red Pepper, Green Pepper and Mushrooms to choose from. Cutting up the toppings and placing it on the pizza dough was good for hand and eye coordination.

Cooking shortbread is an excellent activity for residents
because it combines the benefits of creativity, sensory stimulation, and social interaction. We made some earlier this week. The residents always feel that they have accomplished something and brings the residents together. The best part was then of course eating the shortbread 😃

We were absolutely delighted to see so many visitors and all the support we received at the summer fair on Saturday! We are so grateful to everyone who made the day such a success. A special thanks to our incredible activities team Sarah, Becca and Mawgen, Natasha and her daughter from the staff team and the chefs who worked so hard to feed all the visitors Jan and Lisa. And, thank you so much to Chris Louca, you really went above and beyond to help the team on the day.

Thanks to your incredible generosity we raised our biggest total ever of..........£560! We are so thankful to everyone who supported in whatever way you could. The money will go towards the activities fund.

We were very fortunate to be donated a parachute for the residents from a family member, we are so grateful. We use this for many games and activities, last week we played the ball game which allows residents with different mobility levels to join in with the game. Also, this low impact game allows family members and the staff team to feel included, the residents always benefit from seeing their loved ones and familiar faces joining in. The game increases the interaction between the residents and always guarantees some laughs and the feel good factor the game brings is easy to see. The bright colours and physical movement are a fantastic way to engage your senses and your mind.
