Huge congratulations to our amazing students for passing their NPTC Tractor Driving Tests! 🚜👏
This was our first time running this course at Roots to Fruit, and despite the heat, everyone powered through — mastering driving, manoeuvring, reversing with a trailer, and using a 3-point linkage machine. Incredible work!
A big thank you to the National Lottery for funding this free course, which we made available to our brilliant community and not-for-profit champions.

Roots to Fruit - OUTSTANDING!

On 25th & 26th February our partner school Oasis Academy Woodview underwent a full Ofsted inspection and the report has just been made available.

It makes for wonderful reading - with 'Personal Development of Students' achieving 'Outstanding' status.

Following a full observation of our practitioner delivering a session with the children, and an investigation of the work already undertaken this year, the inspectors had this to say ...

"The school provides further enrichments that deepen pupils’ learning in some subjects.

Through ‘Roots to Fruit’, children make real links to their learning using the outdoor environment. This also supports pupils’ developing knowledge of the different cultures and backgrounds of others."

Congratulations to everyone - children & staff - at Woodview! You're creating something very special for the future.

Roots to Fruit - cultivating great plants AND people!

Sowing Seeds, Growing Minds!

Teaching seed germination in the greenhouse isn't just about growing plants—it’s about growing knowledge! Our students at Cardinal Wiseman School, Coventry and Romero Academy explored seed germination hands-on, linking science to real-world applications.

From variables like temperature and moisture to predicting outcomes, it was a true scientific experiment—until one student brilliantly pointed out: "Yeah, Sir, but with this experiment, you make money!" A priceless moment that connected science, business, and sustainability in one lesson!

This practical learning hit so many GCSE curriculum outcomes, from biology (plant life cycles, conditions for growth) to business studies (profitability of crops) and even maths (measuring growth rates).

Who knew sowing seeds could plant such big ideas?

Well done to my five students who passed their NPTC tests this week, gaining both their brush cutter and hedge cutter licences!

It was a pleasure to support candidates from the Warwickshire Trust, Rethink Mental Health charity, and Castle Bromwich Hall Garden Trust—who, thanks to National Lottery funding, were able to complete this training free of charge.

This means even more volunteers can now gain the skills and confidence to use gardening equipment safely, helping to spread their valuable work even further.

Big congratulations to all! 👏🎉
