💫Let’s talk peri-menopause & menopause! Exercise can be extremely helpful when going through peri menopause or the actual menopause! 💫
Diet and regular exercise is key! It can help lift your mood and regulate hormones.
You’ve all heard that term you are what you eat and it’s so true! If you eat a low carb diet, cut the sugars down and have a variety of healthy foods, like vegetables, avocados, healthy fats and a good
mix of proteins, then you’re more likely to loose any extra weight you’ve gained during menopause. In turn this will help speed up your metabolism which very often lowers during the peri menopausal years!
Mentally you will feel much better with more energy rather then high and lows from too much sugar or caffeine. Make sure you drink lots of water too!
Try to stay active everyday even if it’s a gentle walk in nature or on the treadmill, cycling and a mixture of resistant training, weights, body weight or resistant machines at the gym. If your joints allow you to I would suggest incorporating some high intensity interval training. If not try low impact interval training. This will help burn calories and body fat.
Try to calorie deficit, so don’t over consume foods and especially the foods high in sugar like sweets, chocolate, carbs etc
Having a personal trainer can be really helpful as they can set aside a workout programme to suit your needs and maybe add a few group classes to you routine. This can help you stay accountable, consistent, make it varied and keep it fun!
