‘Offer Her Your Tears’

I am constantly reminded how nourishing story medicine and sharing in circle is. After a deeply beautiful, funny, tender, honest & magical Mother Love call with and sisters this evening, I felt called to share some of my word magic. This is a poem I wrote whilst tending to the grief after my miscarriage earlier this year. I’ve kept it close to me until now, but it feels potent to share as we navigate these times of collective grief and death cycles. I hope its words may be received as medicine.

There’s something about the dark winter nights that evoke the most nourishing & cozy indoor caves. The space I have created here in my Reiki room feels so inviting as the cold wind blows outside and the local tawny owl makes itself known from the trees at the bottom of the garden.

It is within this sacred space that I invite you to come and spend some restful time being present with all that your body & mind wish to communicate. During my sessions I work with all the senses, using sound, visualisation, candle magic and healing Reiki energy to encourage ease and space within the self.

Reiki helps to tend to the body on an energetic level, as well as facilitating rest and comfort, whilst the mind winds down with meditation. There is also space in the sessions to discuss what came up for you & if there are any insights you would like me to share based on our session together.

It’s time for some story medicine from how this last year has shaped me and invited me to move through stages of deep grief, and profound healing.

It is my intention that sharing this will be a balm to those who need to hear it. I wanted to tell you about the lessons that guided me here to create Found in Ritual, as well as sharing how grateful I am to be so well held in community, and how that is at the foundation of what I hope to create here.

It has been through my most recent loss, that I have been able to be open enough to bring in new life in a multitude of ways. And as I sit here and type, 20 weeks pregnant with our little girl, I feel the magnitude of the magic that initiations bring.

I've been thinking a lot about what I'm in service to, & what kind of structure I want to build, generally, for all facets of my life. I have such a strong passion for the alternative health & energetic world, & it's something I continue to learn more about each day.

But with all of this learning, understanding, building & practice, I find that it is also my love for creativity & working with my hands, that fills up my Yin cup of expression.

I want to be able to bring that creative side of me into this space. I want to bring art into the conversation of spirituality, healing, the body & the psyche. As always I am guided back to the realm of nuance. The both/and.

It is my absolute dream to one day create an Oracle Deck of my own, & so today I feel like I've taken the first step in the process, which is to PLAY. To not take it so seriously. To dial down the charge of having it be perfect on the first try, & to just literally paint something - anything.

This butterfly concept came to me after I have just finished reading 'Take Back The Magic' by Perdita Finn. A part memoir, part guide, to building relationship with the Unseens. And so here is my nod to that relationship building, & also to my art, & also to my spirituality.

What a joy it is to have the freedom to be multiple things. To do multiple things. To widen the options of what is available. To build the structures that support the highest expression of ourselves.

Some moments from the garden over the last couple of days. I have so many plans & ideas on how I want the garden to look, & also how I want the garden to function as an ecosystem, a place to gather, & a place to grow food & nourishment.

Making it a practice to be with it in all seasons, & take the time to watch the way it moves, grows & shifts.

There’s so much beauty to witness & also so much sweat & hard work to be done. Enjoying holding both of these.

It is my pleasure to warmly welcome you to a women’s circle ritual gathering to celebrate the season of Lughnasadh, on Thursday 1st August, with a little drawing of what it looks like in my mind 🌞

Lughnasadh, or Lammas, symbolises the beginning of the harvest season, and is a time to give thanks to the land, the crops, the Earth spirits, and the abundant food that we have available to us. We are invited to show our gratitude through ritual offerings, blessings, and also by enjoying the first reaping of the harvest. It is through these offerings that we hope the upcoming harvests will be just as fruitful, as we begin to move into the darker half of the year.

During the evening’s gathering, there will be:

a guided visual meditation
space for journaling
a sharing circle
oracle card pulling
bonfire
incense making
and feasting!

It is my intention that this event will support our connection to the natural rhythms and cycles of nature, whilst diving deeper into what this year has gifted us so far, and how we want to move forward throughout the rest of the year. Lughnasadh, as with any harvesting is also about sacrifice, as there is usually a give and take and a balancing with all things. What must we have to let go of, in order to move forward in this next phase of life? How can we tune into our deeper knowing to see what is being asked of us at this time? What are we being called to celebrate?

How beautiful it is, to have your Mum come for a reiki session and bringing along bundles of herbs from her garden for me to dry.

Energy Magic and Earth Magic in action. Interdependence and reciprocity.

I love seeing the aftermath of each session and feeling into how things move and shift for people. Yesterday I was told after the session that ‘it felt like 8 hours sleep!’, and today my Mum said ‘wow, I feel like I had 12 hours sleep then!’

I love how each experience is different, but ultimately that feeling of deep relaxation and rest resonates with so many. It’s partly why I’ve painted the room such a dark and grounding green, because I wanted the space to evoke a feeling of deep rest in the body, as well as feeling like you are being well held by the Earth.

The reciprocity between our energy and another’s and how they interact and intertwine is so fascinating to me.

Often we are encouraged to escape or ascend in the spiritual/wellness spaces, and it is my hope that each session with me reconnects you to your body, to nature, and to the Earth. Feeling into and getting curious about what arises in you, and inviting more space and stillness.

“There was also a great juxtaposition between the structural elements of Earth Magic, such as the outside altars, and the more fleeting offerings of reverence to that desire for beauty and experience of prayer. One of my favourites was in ‘Star Child Apothecary’, where someone had taken the time and the vision to create images out of different herbs and plants. It’s funny, this notion of creating Earth altars out of matter that isn’t permanent. It’s been interesting to see how that lands in my body, and how my immediate reaction to if I were to create such a structure feels ‘wasteful’. And yet, standing in this darkened and Earth reverent space, I feel so captivated by such impermanent beauty. How could it possibly be a ‘waste’, when the sheer presence of such an offering evoked so much emotion within me, and I would imagine the same for many others who experienced it too.”
