WithYou For The Armed Forces Community

WithYou For The Armed Forces Community With You For The Armed Forces Community is a specialist Program for the Armed Forces Community

Our With You For The Armed Forces programme provides specialist support for military veterans and their families who have substance misuse issues, helping them to lead fulfilling lives that are not hindered by addiction. It does this by acknowledging the specific experiences of people in the armed forces community, capitalising on the strengths of military identity and using this to enhance their

recovery. The With You For The Armed Forces model looks at veterans’ issues in the context of their whole life, rather than focusing only on their drug or alcohol use. With You For The Armed Forces are embedded in With You services nationally, through a network of trained With You Armed Forces service leads and frontline staff. Support includes specialist one-to-one treatment, peer recovery groups and social activities to build trust and developing positive support internal and external networks. With You For The Armed Forces also signposts and supports veterans to other services they may need, which includes mental health, bereavement support, counselling, housing and homeless prevention.

"So, that’s a wrap for the day and for Christmas. Thank you once again to RAF St Mawgan; without your support, this would not have been possible. The final hampers were gratefully received and will have a significant impact on those in need this Christmas. As you can see, Bernard the elf was ever-present during the deliveries and even lent a hand wrapping presents. As this is our last day, we would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas!" 🎄🎅 RAF St Mawgan WithYou in Cornwall WithYou Mark Thomas

Another amazing day today, three more hampers delivered to veterans in need. Two were delivered today at our walk & talk session in Cornwall, run by our County Veteran Lead Mark who seems to have had a little help from Mr B our resident elf. Merry Christmas everyone. 🎄

Massive thank you once again to RAF St Mawgan!! 🎄🎅🎉

Today we remember those in the Armed Forces who have lost their lives. We stand side by side with their friends and families during this time of reflection. 💙

Andy Craze, Armed Forces Project Coordinator at WithYou; “Remembrance Day is a poignant day for the armed forces community. It is an opportunity to remember past and present members of our community who have served their country.”

“For ex-forces members, the transition back to civilian life can sometimes feel isolating and overwhelming. Here at WithYou, we want our military personnel to know that there is a safe and welcoming space for them here.”

"We’ve developed a dedicated programme at WithYou which provides specialist support for veterans and their families.”

“By acknowledging their unique experiences, specific needs and military identity, WithYou is able to better enhance their drug and alcohol recovery.”

“Veterans have given their lives to their country, and we are proud to play a small part in improving access to the support that they, and their families, deserve.”

We are proud to announce we have been awarded the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme’s Gold award. The award recognises the support we provide to those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces and their loved ones.

WithYou for the Armed Forces Community is led by dedicated programme lead, Andy Craze, with armed forces leads embedded in services, many with a military background. The service currently offers:

🎖️ Bespoke support to cut down/stop drug or alcohol use
🎖️ Groups and activities exclusively for members of the armed forces community
🎖️ Support with mental health, physical health, housing and more
🎖️ Information about wider services and benefits available to veterans and military personnel
🎖️ The opportunity to connect with wider veteran and military networks and social groups

With the award, we are part of a community of other organisations who received the award so we can learn from each other about how best to support the Armed Forces community.

Andy Craze, National Armed Forces Programme Lead for WithYou said: “We are delighted to receive the ERS Gold award for the important work we do both directly with the Armed Forces community and in the recruitment of our staff.

“We understand that life after the military can be a challenging time. Fitting into civilian life, and finding new purpose and meaning, can be difficult. In some cases, people can start using drugs or alcohol in a way that doesn’t help. WithYou provides specialist support to help lead a fulfilling life not hindered by dependence.“

🔹 If you have served more than one day in any of the UK Armed Forces, including the UK Reserve Forces (or someone in your family has).

All our services are free of charge; we’re here to listen and provide support without judgement. We understand - because many of us are veterans too.

You can talk to us online or in person via our website: www.wearewithyou.org.uk
