The octopus 🐙 is back! 🤣

So one of my clients today has come in after a post op knee replacement. Unfortunately he had some issues with the procedure and left him really sore and found it difficult to get relief in his knee.
Although the joint is well and moving as it should, six weeks on it is still red, swollen and annoyed.

So a flush of the knee, some mobility to the joint and some k tape has immediately taken the swelling down and watching him leave afterwards, he looked a lot better than when he walked in.

So massage and mobs are a great way of helping flush and stabilise the joint, along with the k tape which will aid this and help improve joint function too.

So if you have had either a knee or hip arthroplasty and have been struggling with inflammation which is inhibiting the joint movement, then give this a go.

Morning everyone 👋🏻
Haven't posted in a while, but life has been busy lifing!

First trip to the gym in weeks, even though ive been training at home, it does hit different!

But something just came to mind when I was here and I wanted to get it out of my head

Accountability is the greatest gift you can ever give yourself.

We've all been a hypocrite to ourselves, we've all done things to ourselves and self abandoned. But one thing I didn't ask for when I entered this world was a hardwire of emotional unavailability and codependency. But its MY choice if just I want to change that. So Forgiveness and grace have been the best things ive allowed myself to have.

Dont get me wrong, now my nervous system is more regulated, I have no idea what to do with it, but that's me trying to navigate years of survival mode. But I didn't come into this world an expert, so I just have to learn to be one 😊

So as the great Prof Steve Peters says work on the gremlins in the system so they dont run riot ✌🏻 there you will find your sweet spot.

Have a great day, put your best shirt on and keep working for you.
Best relationship you should ever have is with yourself 🩷

Season 24/25 done ✔️

What a roller coaster lol. I'm having a well earned rest now. Thanks to my staff who kept me sane throughout, enjoy your rest and will miss you for 6 weeks ❤️

And the boys - enjoy your rest, it's thoroughly deserved. It's not easy in a world with lots of changes and a lot of obstacles to overcome. Xx

See you in 6 weeks 🙏

Here we have another great story
One of my long term clients has been coming into see me for some treatments as he has been struggling with a few areas.
We did some cupping yesterday to help the fascia and muscles in his back as they've not been feeling great.

This is a big indicator of when a stressful job, travel, old injury and doing sport can take its toll. Louie told me that he was just in pain all the time, it was affecting his breathing and just felt compressed and miserable. This is normal to feel that way when you are juggling a lot but also you don't have to feel like that all the time.

So after one cupping treatment you can see the stagnant areas and was in much need of some good blood flow. This was the second session of focusing on just loosening everything, focusing on breath work and stretching and this is a start of a journey to get Louie feeling himself again.

Thank you Louie for allowing me to show your pictures and speaking about how treatment has been helping you.

Have a great Wednesday 😊

Myofascial Cupping on Rotator Cuff site

Overuse * physical tension * inner child release

All areas that were horribly stagnant by poor blood flow.

This is one treatment I love the most, because it can work good on its own but also with manual therapy. First time ever I had to tap out of a trigger point, but upon reflection it's been really stuck for a long time.

As you lift the skin from the fascia, it creates space for fresh blood to enter the site, and the vacuum pulls all the dead blood cells, protein cells etc through the cup. Darker the colour, the more stagnant the area. As it is near the axillary point in the underarm this will generate good lymphatic flow as well.

Have a great Wednesday

I was feeling a bit reflective this morning.... as I was scanning pictures from yesterday's game I felt like I needed to talk about being in football.

I've been with for 14 years, been a sports therapist for 19 years and during that time I have seen a lot of things and had experiences that hopefully one day I'll tell to children once I have them.

I fell in love with football when I was 11 when my dad took me to my first ever game - 93/94 season Crystal Palace vs Portsmouth and I knew then I wanted to work in football and then I've worked insanely hard to get there and stay in it.

My favourite part of football is the players. I have worked with loads over the years, and I've witnessed how much football means to them, watching their careers and being a crucial part of their care. I've seen players on a Monday morning absolutely battered and thinking that they can't make the next game but then roll them out on a Saturday and have the best games (or worst) of their lives. Yesterday was no different, I came in from running my clinic to setting players up for the game, eating my lunch in 45 seconds once they go out, watch the game, dealing with injuries and then spend Sunday morning messaging them to make sure they are alright ready to go again Monday.

I have learnt a lot over the years, got things right, got things wrong, spending a period of time being hugely depressed and lonely but coming in anyway because my sole aim was to make my part in this game run as smoothly as it can.
Monday will come, it will be no different and my aim for the week will be make sure any of my lads are looked after and well as they can be, wheel them out Wednesday and then Saturday and it goes on and on.

I'm extremely proud of everything I've experienced and learnt as a therapist and that's key. You will not know everything but be proud to be in a place where you have earnt the right to be. This then gets filtered into my clinic work and vice versa.

Hope you managed to get to the end, and if you have thank you for reading and have a great Sunday ❤️

Rare Sunday morning at the ground for the lads in preparation for tomorrow's game.

But this isn't just for elite athletes, this can be for anyone who is highly active or doing an event.

💕A mixture of Massage (whether self with a massage gun or if you are lucky to get an appointment!)

💕Compression therapy with Normatec boots (rental coming soon) but places like
In Wimbledon have them available

💕Contrast therapy - cold bath/hot bath with Epsom salts

💕Stretching with bands and foam rollers

💕Slow run out on a watt bike or exercise bike to encourage lactic acid removal

These are all great tools to use to help encourage blood and lymphatic flow, help with recovery of the muscle tissue and also helps calm down the mind. Anyone who knows what an adrenaline comedown feels like it can be really tiresome but also feeling slightly low so anything that helps dopamine and endorphins is a great tool to help your body regulate.

There is nothing wrong at all with a slow steady state, especially after it's been going quick and not had time to settle. Our bodies regulate better in a slower state so it's important even if you aren't used to that, to allow it to have time to heal as in the long run your body will not thank you for it and call time when it doesn't suit you.

I'm leaving it there as I have to go massage some players but thanks for reading my little weekend blog. Have a great rest to your day 👋🏻
