I was feeling a bit reflective this morning.... as I was scanning pictures from yesterday's game I felt like I needed to talk about being in football.
I've been with for 14 years, been a sports therapist for 19 years and during that time I have seen a lot of things and had experiences that hopefully one day I'll tell to children once I have them.
I fell in love with football when I was 11 when my dad took me to my first ever game - 93/94 season Crystal Palace vs Portsmouth and I knew then I wanted to work in football and then I've worked insanely hard to get there and stay in it.
My favourite part of football is the players. I have worked with loads over the years, and I've witnessed how much football means to them, watching their careers and being a crucial part of their care. I've seen players on a Monday morning absolutely battered and thinking that they can't make the next game but then roll them out on a Saturday and have the best games (or worst) of their lives. Yesterday was no different, I came in from running my clinic to setting players up for the game, eating my lunch in 45 seconds once they go out, watch the game, dealing with injuries and then spend Sunday morning messaging them to make sure they are alright ready to go again Monday.
I have learnt a lot over the years, got things right, got things wrong, spending a period of time being hugely depressed and lonely but coming in anyway because my sole aim was to make my part in this game run as smoothly as it can.
Monday will come, it will be no different and my aim for the week will be make sure any of my lads are looked after and well as they can be, wheel them out Wednesday and then Saturday and it goes on and on.
I'm extremely proud of everything I've experienced and learnt as a therapist and that's key. You will not know everything but be proud to be in a place where you have earnt the right to be. This then gets filtered into my clinic work and vice versa.
Hope you managed to get to the end, and if you have thank you for reading and have a great Sunday ❤️
