On Sunday 7 September at 3pm, there will be an emergency alert test on mobile phones across the UK. Each mobile will make a loud siren and vibrate — even if they’re on silent.
If you or someone you know is a survivor of domestic abuse with a hidden phone, you may want to opt out. Instructions are available on GOV.UK to disable emergency alerts
These alerts aim to protect the public in emergencies, for example a danger to life.
What you need to know:
- Don’t be alarmed—no action is required.
- If you’re driving, do not touch your phone—it’s illegal and unsafe. Continue driving and check the message later when stationary
