September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, which aims to educate men and their loves ones about the symptoms and risk factors for prostate cancer, as well as supporting screening and testing, and advocating for continued research efforts. The month is all about public health awareness, aiming to encourage men to get to know their bodies, identify changes and seek support. Early detection is key!

Today is World Photography Day! To celebrate we launched a competition to capture the very best images of our local area, and asked for your submissions on the post below. We will keep the competition open for the rest of today; please do submit your photos so that we can share your talents with our residents

As World Photography Day approaches, it's time to love your local area! Are you a budding local photographer in our area, or somebody who likes to capture the heart of where we live? We’re looking for landscapes, and the moments that make our place truly special; snapshots of every day life. Why? Well, we’re aware that many of us will be staying closer to home this summer. We want to celebrate all there is to do in our local area, so we’re asking for entrants to submit just ONE photograph that captures the beauty you see every day. Entries should capture Bretby, Swadlincote, or the immediate area, to remain local to our home. It could be a picturesque landscape, a local attraction or event, a bustling street scene or the wildlife where we live. Celebrate our locality! The winning entry will become a limited-run postcard for our home’s residents to send to their loved ones. Get snapping, attaching your photograph of Bretby, Swadlincote or the immediate area to this post.
