👩‍⚕️ UPFs (ultra-processed foods)

UPFs are foods that have been highly processed. However, many processed foods are still nutritious. Examples include breakfast cereals fortified with iron and vitamins, plant-based milks with added calcium, and hummus containing citric acid. These foods can contribute important nutrients such as carbohydrates and fibre.

It’s important to avoid labelling foods as “good” or “bad”, as this messaging can be damaging — especially for children. Instead, we need to look at the bigger picture and offer foods from all food groups, with some foods eaten more frequently than others.

👶 “Will they ever grow out of it?”

It’s the question I get asked most often by parents and I completely understand why.

When your child refuses food, sticks to beige favourites, or mealtimes feel like a battle, it can leave you worried, frustrated and exhausted.

That’s exactly what I’ll be sharing in my upcoming Fussy Eating Workshop for parents of preschool and school-aged children.

You’ll leave with practical tools, realistic ideas and the confidence to make mealtimes more positive. 💛

✨ You’re not alone and change is possible.

🌟 Why is breakfast so important? 🌟

🧠 In simple terms, breakfast helps fuel the brain.
✅ Research shows that eating breakfast can support children’s attention, memory and concentration, which is especially important on school days.

👩‍⚕️ In clinic, I often see parents feeling worried when breakfast feels rushed, busy or chaotic. Mornings aren’t always the easiest time to introduce unfamiliar foods and that’s okay.

🌟 As a priority, aim to offer at least one familiar food at breakfast, so your child can nourish their body for the morning ahead without pressure.

🥛 If your child struggles to eat before school, a nourishing drink can be really helpful — for example, a glass of milk or a milk-based drink can still provide valuable energy and nutrients.

👉 If breakfast or fussy eating feels stressful in your home, I’m running a free fussy eating workshop where I share practical, pressure-free strategies to support children at mealtimes.

📣 Mealtime success isn’t defined by the number of mouthfuls eaten.

Nutrition is important for a child’s growth and development, but it isn’t the only measure of a positive meal time.

Feeling safe, calm and having a positive interaction with food also matters.

If meal times are something you dread, or they often end in tears, tension or bribery, support can change that.

See how I can support your family by booking a free discovery call or join the free fussy eating workshop. Details in the bio and link below:
