The Berkshire West Autism & ADHD Support Service is available to help people who are registered with a GP surgery in the Reading, West Berkshire and Wokingham council areas, providing a Helpline service, advice appointments for parents/carers and a range of free online workshops and courses.
Families can request help at any time whether their child has a diagnosis, is waiting for an autism and/or ADHD assessment, or autism is suspected

They say you’re “difficult” because it’s easier than admitting the truth:
you’re the only one in the room holding the full weight of your child’s reality.

“Difficult” is the word they reach for when a parent won’t nod along.
When you ask the questions they hoped you wouldn’t.
When you refuse to accept the version of your child that fits neatly into their paperwork.

“Difficult” is what they call you when you won’t shrink.
When you won’t be soothed, silenced, or managed.
When you won’t let them turn your child’s struggle into your fault.

Because the moment you stop being quiet, the moment you stop being grateful for scraps, the moment you stop absorbing the system’s failings as your own…
you become inconvenient.

And inconvenient parents get labelled “difficult”.

But here’s the truth they never say out loud:

You’re not difficult.
You’re determined.
You’re informed.
You’re exhausted.
You’re done being dismissed.

And every time they try to make you the problem, it’s because they don’t want to look at the real one.

We’re looking forward to welcoming Dr Leigh-Anne Davies to Wildflower Meadows for this thoughtful workshop on Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA).

This session is for parents and carers who would like to better understand why school avoidance happens and how we can support children who are finding school difficult.

See the post for full details.

With all the news focussing on the new white paper, we thought we would try and spread some happiness and offer something amazing and affordable to our local area.

One of our team, who have been with us for a while and has lived experience of ND, is now an OT Apprentice, and as a result we have the opportunity to offer more affordable OT from now until April 17th.

Let's celebrate our strengths and understand ourselves and use that information to enable us to climb higher heights and do what WE really want to do.

Details below, email me for a chat and we can set something up. This will only be in Windsor, Maidenhead, Bracknell and close surrounding areas.

I hope this is useful for some families.

Sharon :)
