I believe tennis is one of the toughest sports in the world. 🥵
🛠️ Technically, it’s incredibly demanding. Unlike padel & pickle, where you can pick up a racket and enjoy yourself almost immediately, tennis requires real development. For many beginners, it can take months — even a year — before they consistently strike the ball well. It’s a sport that demands patience and precision.
🧠 Mentally, it may be one of the most challenging environments in sport. The frustration can be intense. You’re alone on court, managing pressure, mistakes, momentum swings, and emotions in real time. There’s nowhere to hide.
💪 Physically, it requires everything: explosiveness in your first steps, speed, endurance, vertical power, lower and upper body strength, and elite cardio. And tactically, the layers are endless. Every point is a problem to solve.
That complexity is exactly what makes tennis so special.
Do you think any sport is more complete than tennis — or does it truly demand the most? 🎾👀

Now at 65, I've not stopped playing tennis since I was 10 years old. For the last 28 years, I've been coaching at Swanland Lawn Tennis Club in beautiful East Riding. This is the sport that keeps on giving, and you never stop improving. Every single day, you find out something new about yourself, your ability, and your players' ability. This is what makes tennis so special. We never stop learning; there's always a next level, next level, next level. It's beautiful to see children and adults improving every day, reaching levels they never thought they could achieve. That's what makes me so passionate about the sport.
Of course, to be able to perform like this on the court 6 to 7 days a week, you have to fuel your body with the right nutrition.
