Today has been the International Transgender Day of Visibility. This day is an annual event dedicated to raising awareness of discrimination faced by transgender people.

At Hull & East Riding Fertility we pride ourselves on providing equality in access to fertility treatment as we believe everyone has a right to a family.

Our partners at The Fertility Alliance are running their next online support group on Wednesday 26th March at 8pm.

The group is online and is a friendly safe space for people to meet others who are going through similar experiences. It is run by the Fertility Network's peer volunteer and is open to people at any stage of their fertility journey.

Today, 11th February 2025, marks the 10th anniversary of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. A day dedicated to promoting and encouraging more women and girls to pursue careers in science and technology.

Here at Hull & East Riding Fertility, we are lucky to have such a wonderful and dedicated team of scientists working in our labs. These amazing ladies dedicate their careers to creating, analysing, developing and looking after our patients eggs, s***m and embryos.

We are very lucky that these ladies chose to pursue science as a career.

Over the last few weeks, the full team at Hull & East Riding have had life support refresher training.

One of the most shocking statistics we learnt about is that women are 15% less likely to survive a cardiac arrest when a defib is used compared to men. This is predominately due to men not wanting to expose a women's chest by cutting off their bra when using a defibrillator as part of CPR. I'm sure you'll agree that this is a shocking statistic.

It's therefore important for us to help raise awareness that women would much rather live, than worry about their chest being exposed by those trying to safe a life.

Here at Hull & East Riding Fertility, it's important that we continually keep up to date with the latest developments in fertility, and share best practice with other clinics, suppliers and professionals within the fertility sector.

As part of this continuous development, this week, some of our wonderful clinical and scientific team members are in Liverpool attending Fertility 2025, a conference ran by the British Fertility Society where the UK's fertility specialists come together.
