I am hoping this very important and topical paper will help with the ‘mummy guilt’ that some patients feel before having surgery after childbirth. This proves without question that ‘mummy makeovers’ are reconstructive and not just cosmetic - and have massive functional and psychological benefits which have a positive effect on family units. .I have spent the last few years doing literally hundreds of ‘post partum restoration’ operations, constantly evolving my techniques to improve outcomes- and the positive psychological and functional improvements in patients has been stunning . It’s been such a honour to be part of the journey - after children , weight loss and many having negative body images for years- seeing ladies beaming in follow up and sending photos with pride has been uplifting. I hope the more ladies and partners / family members who read this article - and understand the true reasons why their partners , mothers, daughters and sisters want to have the procedure.

I was really pleased to see this important documentary released today by that I was fortunate to be included in as a surgical expert and patient advocate. This documentary shows shocking footage and information regarding the alarming and dangerous practices occurring on high streets throughout the UK offering cheap and easily available cosmetic treatments by untrained individuals in dangerous environments. Some of the complications and lifelong effects and even fatalities are shocking. Well done to the team who put this together - to for his vision and energy and and for their energy, investigative skills and drive to improve patient safety. It was great to be involved and a small part of a wider story that has led to the government and health minister taking this very seriously and work towards enhancing patient safety and cracking down on
