Sometimes, the picture at school and the picture at home can feel completely different. One shows a child who appears to be coping. The other shows a child who is overwhelmed, exhausted and struggling to hold it all together.

This difference is something many families experience, and it can leave parents feeling confused, unheard and unsure of what to do next. What sits beneath it is often not behaviour, but effort. Effort that has been building all day.

When that full picture is understood, everything starts to shift. The right support does not just change routines, it changes how a child feels, how a family functions and how everyone moves forward together đź’›

We’ve shared a real family story on our blog, exploring how understanding, joined-up support and small, targeted changes can make a lasting difference. Read the full case study at 🔗 neuropathwaysclinic.co.uk/when-home-and-school-tell-different-stories/

Happy Mother’s Day to all the incredible mums, step-mums, grandmothers, carers and mother figures who nurture, support and guide the people around them every day 💛

Motherhood takes many forms. It can be joyful, challenging, messy, rewarding and everything in between. Today is a moment to recognise the love, patience and strength that so many women give to their families, communities and the people who rely on them.

At Health is One, we also recognise that this day can bring different feelings for different people. For those missing their mum, hoping to become one, navigating complex family relationships, or finding today difficult in any way, you’re not alone.

However you spend the day, we hope it includes a moment of care, connection and kindness.

The purpose of the ASN Parent Night at Johnstone High School was to present the school’s support systems and partnership resources available for pupils with additional support needs who will be transitioning from primary school after summer. Moving to a much larger school with new teachers and subjects can be especially challenging for pupils with additional support needs, often leading to feelings of apprehension and anxiety as they adjust to these changes.

The event also served to introduce young people and their parents to key staff members, who will provide significant support and act as primary contacts when needed. This occasion enabled parents and pupils to engage directly with school staff and representatives from partner services, such as our own, allowing them to ask questions and establish initial connections.

Parents were already familiar with The Exchange Counselling and its services through previous involvement at the primary level, and expressed reassurance regarding the continuity of these services into high school. It was beneficial to connect with both pupils and parents, providing them with a detailed overview of the support and services available, which appeared to be positively received.

In conjunction with transition days, this event aims to help both parents and pupils feel more confident and informed about what to expect as they join their new school community.

One of our incredible team members at The Exchange, Madi, is taking on a truly meaningful challenge this December. She’s walking 100km with her 7-month-old son, Leo, to raise funds for Alzheimer’s Scotland and the Dementia Resource Centre in Kilmarnock.

This journey is especially personal for Madi. Her dad, Ronnie, was diagnosed with a rare form of dementia in 2022 and now receives 24/7 care in a nursing home. The support her family has received has shown her just how vital these services are for people living with dementia and for the carers who stand beside them every day.

The centre in Kilmarnock has become a lifeline for many families, offering community, understanding, and practical support, especially for those facing dementia at a younger age. Madi's hope is that every step she and baby Leo take will help keep that support going for others.

They’ve already begun their December miles, and we couldn’t be prouder 💜

If you’d like to cheer them on or donate to their fundraiser, you can do so here: Justgiving.com/page/madi-train-1
