Today, we’re opening a new Neuropathways Clinic near Glasgow, bringing faster, tailored neurodiversity assessment and support for children, adults and families, including assessment and support for ADHD and autism.

Based in Uddingston, South Lanarkshire, our clinic offers timely assessment, diagnosis and personalised support plans for neurodivergent people, responding to growing concerns about long NHS waiting times and fragmented care.

Launched by specialist organisation Health Is One, Neuropathways Clinic has been created to provide earlier identification, faster access to assessments and more joined-up support 🤝

One of our incredible team members at The Exchange, Madi, is taking on a truly meaningful challenge this December. She’s walking 100km with her 7-month-old son, Leo, to raise funds for Alzheimer’s Scotland and the Dementia Resource Centre in Kilmarnock.

This journey is especially personal for Madi. Her dad, Ronnie, was diagnosed with a rare form of dementia in 2022 and now receives 24/7 care in a nursing home. The support her family has received has shown her just how vital these services are for people living with dementia and for the carers who stand beside them every day.

The centre in Kilmarnock has become a lifeline for many families, offering community, understanding, and practical support, especially for those facing dementia at a younger age. Madi's hope is that every step she and baby Leo take will help keep that support going for others.

They’ve already begun their December miles, and we couldn’t be prouder 💜

What’s in your Cave Island? 🪨

Cave Island is a creative activity we use to help children explore what brings them joy, what feels safe, and what worries or scares them.

Caves have long symbolised safety, mystery and discovery, and in therapeutic work they become powerful imaginary spaces where children can make sense of their inner world. Through cave drawings and visual mapping, children can express their identity, their feelings, and how they see the world 🌍

“When it rains, look for rainbows” 🌈 Sometimes life brings the rain - challenges, stress, moments that feel a little heavier than we expected. But even on those days, there can be flashes of colour if we slow down long enough to notice them 💛

Looking for rainbows isn’t about pretending everything is fine. It’s about finding small moments of hope and reminding yourself that support is always within reach, even on the tough days.

From island to island across the beautiful west coast of Scotland, here's a little peek of a week in the life of Service Manager Clara and her wonderful team of Counsellors and Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners!

They've been island hopping visiting local classrooms bringing The Exchange's support to children and families in remote communities.

No matter where you live, every child deserves to be understood, supported, and given the tools to thrive. Rural communities have different challenges to urban, but all children deserve the same wellbeing support.

When a young person struggles to go to school, it can feel confusing and worrying - for them, for parents, and for teachers. But behind every “I can’t” is a story worth understanding 💛

Sometimes it’s anxiety about friendships, pressure to perform, or worries that build quietly over time. What matters most is not forcing attendance, but creating space for conversation, curiosity and compassion.

Sometimes, all it takes is someone outside the family to listen, understand, and help a child find their own way forward 💛

This parent shared how their son was struggling with big emotions - and how, after a long wait for support elsewhere, The Exchange stepped in with a structured programme that made all the difference. Through creative activities, honest conversations, and practical tools, he learned new ways to express and manage his feelings.

Halfway through, his parent began to see the change - more communication, more calm, and a stronger connection between them both.

“He just needed someone to talk to - someone he could trust, who wasn’t family. It really helped him open up.”
