The times when we need to ask for help, or even to take a little time for ourselves, can often seem like the times we’re least able to - we have so much to deal with, other people need us or there just isn’t the money or time. Jing Shen Therapies aims to make high quality Taiji and therapy available to all when it’s needed by providing accessible and affordable sessions and services. We provide a welcoming, supportive and non-judgemental service, giving control back to you and helping you to achieve wellbeing on all levels - physical, mental, emotional, social\community and spiritual. Drawing on talking therapy, bodywork, Taiji, Qigong and Mindfulness, we also encourage people to become involved with their local community and environment and will help with finding practical help and solutions if needed. In this way we become more self-reliant and mutually supportive. Taking that first step and looking for help can sometimes feel more daunting than our problems. We provide a supportive and non-judgemental, professional and confidential service, bound by the ethical framework of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, (BACP). We work within the core principles of Person-Centred counselling:
• Unconditional positive regard and respect for you as a person; your rights and choices.
• Empathy, to see your experience and choices as you see them.
• Congruence and honest, to be open and straight with you. We are all complex individuals: physical, emotional, thinking, sexual, social and spiritual; we are parents, children, friends, lovers, enemies, etc. We will work with you to help you address whatever’s troubling you or causing you pain – we won’t tell you what to do, rather we will help you decide what you want, helping you look at troubling feelings, thoughts and habits and plan action to take to make changes. The work also focuses on what our body is telling us and our relationship to others and our local surroundings. Taiji and Qigong are amazing practices for reducing stress, improving balance, releasing emotional tensions, strengthening the body, etc. They also draw on theories of Chinese medicine ad Meditation, however you do not need to adopt these to benefit. We offer small, friendly classes covering all aspects of the art: Qigong, Meditation and the long form – health, healing others and self-defence. All services are on a suggested donation basis as I don't want people not being able to access help due to financial difficulties, (services can also be provided on an exchange basis). We actively oppose discrimination on the basis of gender, sexual orientation or identity, race, religious belief, ability or age. Small and welcoming classes, suitable for all abilities. Tai Chi improves balance, coordination, mobility and relaxation. It’s also an excellent opportunity to meet some new people while learning together. Classes cover Yang Cheng Fu’s long slow form, Qigong, body-structure, breath and Mindful awareness. We work through all aspects of Taiji - health and martial. (Please see individual class details). All welcome – wear suitable, loose clothing and bring a drink. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Some sessions are provided free, please check individual events. Suggested donation for other classes are £15 pcm for 1 hr and £30 pcm for 2 hrs, for this you can attend as many classes each week as you wish. Steve Clegg is an advanced instructor with the Tai Chi Union of Great Britain and a member of the World Taiji Boxing Association. He has been studying Tai Chi since 1994 and teaching since 2012. He was also previously an instructor within the World Wing Chun Kung Fu Association. Person-Centred therapy sessions are available in the Mayhill area. (Other locations and home-visits are sometimes available - please contact to ask). Steve is an experienced counsellor with over 13 years of experience in private practice. He also has experience of working in advice agencies, drugs services, youth projects and mediation. He provides a supportive and accepting space for you to talk about your problems and make your own decisions about what you want to change, working in a Person-Centred manner to give control back to you but also drawing on cognitive, Gestalt, Mindfulness and Solution-Focussed approaches. Steve is a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy bound by their ethical framework. Please contact for enquiries about counselling. Sessions are provided free – there is a suggested donation of £15 to cover costs, but there is no obligation; only pay what you can afford and if you can afford.
